It’s really relaxing to watch house tour videos. It’s probably because all of us have our own dream house and seeing people who have finally achieved theirs give us inspiration and motivation.
It simply reminds us that it’s also possible to attain ours.
A couple from Cowlitz County, Washington D.C. was once like us.
They were just dreaming to achieve their ideal house. They also wanted to be debt and mortgage-free for a lifetime. They were very eager to turn this dream into reality. So to be able to do that, they worked with full dedication and put their hundred percent commitment to their goal.
For ten months, they did not miss a single day even Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to save money for their house.
They also worked as a team.
They were together every step of the way. Even when they faced the hardest challenge when they were building their house. It wasn’t the labor and the money they had to spend. In fact, it was an unexpected ordeal.
Dave was confined to the hospital as he suffered severe bleeding in his brain.
It’s expected that they would encounter some struggles while building their dream house but this was beyond difficult. It was heartbreaking. The good thing is they did not give up and both of them were focused on their goal.
“I don’t have time for this, we’re building a house,” Dave told Jaime when he was in the hospital.
Jamie never left his side and she made sure that her presence would strengthen Dave in all aspects. She also tried her best to assure him that everything was going to be okay.
The hardest challenge that they had been through while achieving their dream turned out to be their biggest lesson.
Despite all of the sufferings they faced, they were stronger than ever and were able to finish their house in 10 months – just how they planned it. And thankfully, Dave regained his strength.
“We finished the project still in 10 months and stronger, and more appreciative of every single minute. And it helps us to understand that you have to find joy in the small things. Joy is not ever present, you choose to be joyful in the midst of the turmoil,” Jaime said in an interview with Living Big In A Tiny House.
In the property that they bought, they stacked a 40ft and 20ft container shipping container.
It turned into a beautiful house.
They gladly toured many people to their home via their interview with Living Big In A Tiny House. They showed how they maximized the tiny space they have and the result was amazing.
Welcome to their homey kitchen!
They used every space of their house wisely as they were able to build a perfect kitchen. It’s filled with appliances and the dining area can also accommodate 6 people.
They built their comfort room according to their needs.
They wanted it to be a place where they could move around without feeling constricted. It’s also the same area where they could get dressed. So practical!
There’s also a spacious room which they considered as the pantry and closet room.
Of course, they also made sure to come up with a comfy bedroom.
Everything about it is perfect. The aura is very welcoming and at the same time, it’s relaxing. Not to mention that they have a beautiful view.
Their house is a perfect place where they could cherish every minute together. As they left behind their old life, they chose to live simply. They did not just achieve their goal to be debt-free but it also led them to have a healthy lifestyle. It was indeed a wise decision for both of them.
Dave and Jaime’s house tour is not ordinary. It is inspiring and full of life lessons. It teaches us that the journey of building a dream house will never be easy but it can definitely happen! It’s something that would make you more driven and a better person.
