Dogs have a special connection with their humans. They can tell when their owners are sick or sad. They always want to comfort their humans, even if they can’t fully understand what the problem is. This dog is one of the most loyal animals you will ever meet.

Cesur is a little dog that lives in Bursa, Turkey. For the last two years he has lived with his loving owner, Mehmet. The two had a unique bond that was only strengthened by Mehmet’s physical state.

“Because of my father’s paralysis, they had a different kind of connection,” Mehmet’s son, Ali, explained to The Dodo. “When my father was in the hospital during his last days, Cesur stopped eating.”

Ultimately, the man lost his battle for life – and his dog became morbidly depressed. When Mehmet’s body arrived so that his funeral procession could take place, Cesur refused to part with him. This dog was the first in line for the procession that carried the coffin to a local mosque.

The ceremony continued, and Cesur sat by his beloved owner the entire time. He hung his head sadly until the event had come to an end. “Nobody could touch him until my father was taken to the grave and was buried,” Ali shared.

When the next day came, Cesur had still not finished mourning the loss of his deceased owner. He headed to Mehmet’s burial site, where he paid his respects. He continued this routine for five days before Ali realized what he was doing.

When the man left for work in the morning, he watched the dog dart out the door – but he never questioned where he was going. Then one day he decided to follow the pup. Ali was startled when he discovered the truth.

“The people who work in the cemetery say the first thing he does in the morning is visit the grave of my father,” Ali said. When he arrived at his father’s grave, the two stood in silence together.

Cesur might be lonely, but he doesn’t have to be alone. Ali has agreed to take in his father’s dog. “Cesur has always been a noble animal. He will live with me from now on.”
