A dad would do anything to see his daughter smile. When this man’s daughter asked him to be a part of her big day, he went above and beyond to show his immense love for her. You’ll never guess how he made his daughter’s day special.
Robert David’s daughter, Kayla, was getting married. She planned out the details of the wedding months ahead of time – all except for the father-daughter dance. Kayla wanted her dad to pick the song the two of them would dance to together.
When Robert was presented with this opportunity, he knew he had to do something special for his little girl. The father wanted to create a special surprise for Kayla, so he tapped into his creative side.
Kayla knew her father had two favorite songs, so she assumed that he would pick one of them. Instead, he told her not to worry about it. “She mentioned two of my all-time favorite songs, and she said that one of her friends would be happy to perform it,” Robert explained to the audience at the wedding. “My response to her was, ‘Don’t worry about it, I’ve got it covered.'”
This was not the reaction that the bride to be was expecting when she was trying to plan out the ceremony. Over time, Kayla grew frustrated, constantly wondering what her dad was up to. She sent several texts asking about the song, but Robert kept his secret the entire time.
When the day of the wedding finally came, Kayla still had no clue what song she would be dancing to with her father. It was not until the time of the dance – when Robert explained his song choice to the crowd – that the bride knew what was going on. You’ll never believe what he did.
He wrote an original song for his daughter’s wedding! Titled “Kayla’s Wedding Song,” the artwork was about the pain a father feels at watching his daughter grow up and leave home. Robert described his nostalgia for the days of Kayla’s childhood and his surprise at how quickly she had grown into an adult.
“It goes by so fast before you realize there’s a woman standing there,” Robert shared through his lyrics. The man was having a hard time coping with the fact that his daughter was already grown up, but it was clear that he deeply cherished the bond the two shared.
The song was a beautiful display of this father’s love for his daughter. This story reminds us how fortunate we are to share our lives with the people we love.
