There are dog people and then there are cat people. And when a non-cat person is asked to pet-sit a tiny feline you can imagine the complaining and groaning that would accompany the request. That is exactly what happened when this father was asked to watch his daughter’s new kitten. But the two ended up being the best of friends and it is adorable.

The little kitten, Bilu, was adopted from the KLA Pet Adoption Center in Los Angeles, California. The kitten was sweet and friendly, always wanting to snuggle up close to anyone willing to hold him.

“He’s the most affectionate, caring cat. I’m honestly so lucky that I got him because he’s so friendly,” said Hira, “He goes and sits on anyone’s lap and starts purring, and cuddles with them on their chests.”

Bilu was quickly adapting to his new family and was getting along so well with his new owner. But when Hira was invited one a trip to Mexico, she wasn’t sure where Bilu was going to stay. So, she asked her parents for help pet-sitting the little kitten.

Her dad answered a firm “no” when asked to pet-sit, but he had no other choice.

Her dad was less than thrilled with the request. He did not want the “mess” of having another cat run around the house. The family used to have a cat that lived both indoors and outdoors and his name was Bubba. He used to roam in and out of the house with muddy paws, making a mess of the Khalid’s home. Bubba shed a lot and always made a mess with his litter. The dad was convinced this would turn out the same way. It took a lot of convincing, but finally, Hira had no other choice than to ask her parents after her other options hadn’t worked out.

Hira finally asked her parents, “You know what? He’s potty-trained, he’s fine. Please, just keep him for a week – I really need it.”

You can imagine the tone of his voice when her father replied, “OK fine, if there’s no other option.”

The two ended up being the best of friends.

While Hira was away, she was worrying that her kitten was not getting along with her parents. But she hadn’t heard anything from them a few days into her trip, so assumed everything was alright. But when she finally heard from her parents, she received the best pictures she could hope for. Bilu was snuggled up against her father’s neck and the two were obviously best friends.

“I was surprised that my dad bonded with Bilu,” explained Hira, “I knew Bily was the most friendly cat ever, but I didn’t know [how] much Dad would get that close to him.”
