I love the name they picked for her.

Layla is a smiling Pittie puppy. She has her own Instagram page called Layla the smiling pup. Why is she popular, you ask? Well you see, Layla was found last summer in a busy street and was taken to Beaumont Animal Care in Texas. She was seven months old at the time and was really frail and shy.

But when Layla saw how everyone around her were so nice and caring, she learned to relax and trust these people. So much so that she gave them a pretty smile! Look at her!

Surely, she felt safe now and was overwhelmed by a feeling of security and peace. Dogs can feel a wide range of emotions even in shelters.

Layla was found running through busy traffic all alone so you can imagine the terror this little one must have gone through. Poor girl.

Rachel Barron says of her encounter with Layla,

“When I began to speak in a baby tone kind of voice she absolutely loved it. She began wagging her tail and then boom, the famous smile. That is when I pulled out my phone to get it on video. It was too cute not to share.”

The staff took good care of her and after Barron posted her video, adoption inquiries started rolling in. That dazzling smile caught quite a few hearts.

Luckily for Layla, the perfect family came in for a visit after seeing that adorable smiling video. Nicole Toney and her husband immediately knew that Layla was for them. Why not when this husband and wife already have three rescue dogs and two cats!

Layla would be a great addition to the family.

Naturally, this smiling puppy quickly warmed up to her new family. After a few meetings and cuddles with Nicole, they got the green light to bring this smiling pup home. Like it was fate or destiny.

Layla instantly got close with the other dogs, running and playing around with them.

“Lady immediately wanted to be near Layla.” Toney said, “Lady was a mom and had just given birth when she was rescued, and so she was really drawn to Layla.”

You would think that living in the streets alone and vulnerable would make it difficult for Layla to adapt to her new home. But all it took were a few introductions for them to get along.

Toney adds, “She’s really settling so well. She’ll cuddle right next to my husband’s face and fall asleep. She’s such a sweetheart and we noticed she even smiles when she’s asleep.”

One of the dogs, Sadie, didn’t seem to thrilled at the idea of having a new member in the family. The two dogs ignored each other for a few days until suddenly, they were hanging out together, then started doing things together, and eventually became friends.

Fast forward six months and Layla isn’t such a little pup anymore. She’s all grown up but don’t think she’s forgotten where she came from. Oh no. Layla still flashes her lovely smile much to the delight of everyone around her.

Looks like there will be many more cuddles and smiles in the future for this family.
