There was a time when men worked and women stayed at home. It was once acceptable to say, “A woman’s place is in the kitchen,” but that time is over. As one man proves, some people still haven’t gotten with the program.
Kimber Dowsett was waiting to board a flight when she heard a nearby couple arguing. She began to listen in, as we all do from time to time. What she heard, however, completely appalled her.
The woman had been offered a promotion at her job, and her boyfriend expected her to turn it down. The reason? His own ego. Kimber couldn’t believe it. She took out her phone and shared the ridiculous conversation with her Twitter followers.
Couple beside me at the airport is arguing over money. He just told her if she loved him she’d turn down the promotion bc everyone would know she’d be making more money than him and he’d be humiliated. Holy shit is that really still a thing? wtf

The man grieved that he would be humiliated if his girlfriend were to make more money than him. Kimber and her followers were completely disgusted. The girlfriend tried to reason with him, and her boyfriend stubbornly insisted that she pass up on a good opportunity to spare him imagined embarrassment.

Kimber had had enough. She couldn’t believe there was a man out there who was still so backwards.

But the plot only thickened. This girl started standing up for herself.

This girl had enough of his pushing her around, and she put her career before his fragile ego. Everyone in the gate clapped as she walked away, and the man was left only to text angrily. Good for her.
Kimber had some amazing words of positivity for this anonymous girl.

We are all happy that this woman stood up for herself. If someone truly loves you, they will want to support you in your goals.
In this moment the girl determined who she was, and she decided to go after the life she dreamt of. I hope all women can be this strong in the face of adversity.
