Courtney and Eric tried to have another child without medical assistance, but it resulted in yet another miscarriage. It must have been devastating to have to endure this hardship so many times. The two turned back to the fertility treatments, and they got more than they had ever imagined.

This time, Courtney was pregnant with sextuplets! “I was scared to death,” she told People about discovering the news. “I’m a smaller framed girl, and my first thoughts were on how I was going to successfully get six kids here without something happening to them or me. There was a lot of fear. We didn’t know what to do or think.”

Doctors recommended a procedure called “selective reduction” in order to increase the fetuses’ chance of survival. After deep thought, however, Courtney and Eric held on to hope. They decided to keep all six babies.

“We are strong in our faith, but you never know how you’re going to feel when you’re actually in those shoes,” Courtney explained. “When we let it go and turned it all over to [God], those fears—though we know the risks are still there—were lifted from us.”

Their faith was richly rewarded. Courtney gave birth to all six babies. After receiving extended care in the hospital, all six of them were finally able to come home. The couple was thrilled to welcome Rivers, Rayne, Rawlings, Blu, Tag, and Layke into the world.
