The recent news has been dividing people and police officers more than ever. According to the news, innocent people are getting hurt by law enforcement, and it has been making a lot of people nervous about their interactions with them. With that being said, like any career path, there are good people and bad people doing the job, and one young officer has proven that not all police are bad with his latest actions.

Tim McMillan was a police officer on duty when he saw a young African American teen texting while driving. As he is required to do, he pulled the young teen over.

When he approached the car, he saw that the young boy was visibly shaken and afraid for his life. He immediately put his hands up and asked McMillan, โWhat do you want me to do officer?โ
Knowing that he only pulled the boy over for his own safety, he quickly just told the young boy that โI [sic]just donโt want you to get hurt.โ
He then continued by saying- โNo, I donโt want you to text and drive. I donโt want you to get in a wreck. I want your mom to always have her baby boy. I want you to grow up and be somebody. I donโt even want to write you a ticket. Just please pay attention, and put the phone down. I just donโt want you to get hurt.โ

The story quickly went viral and was shared over 140,000 times and people from all facets of life commented on this story. Proving that heโs a great person whoโs capable of enforcing the law without terrorizing, heโs proven that there are good police officers who are choosing to do good and making the world better.

I pulled a car over last night for texting and driving. When I went to talk to the driver, I found a young black male, who was looking at me like he was absolutely terrified with his hands up. He said, โWhat do you want me to do officer?โ His voice was quivering. He was genuinely scared.
I just looked at him for a moment, because what I was seeing made me sad. I said, โI just donโt want you to get hurt.โ
In which he replied, with his voice still shaking, โDo you want me to get out of the car.โ
I said, โNo, I donโt want you to text and drive. I donโt want you to get in a wreck. I want your mom to always have her baby boy. I want you to grow up and be somebody. I donโt even want to write you a ticket. Just please pay attention, and put the phone down. I just donโt want you to get hurt.โI truly donโt even care whoโs fault it is that young man was so scared to have a police officer at his window. Blame the media, blame bad cops, blame protestors, or Colin Kaepernick if you want. It doesnโt matter to me whoโs to blame. I just wish somebody would fix it.
