Cop chased down street by tiniest stray puppy begging to be his forever dog
We have a feeling these two are going to be very happy together.

Thereโ€™s an unexplainable link between humans and dogs.

Whether you own a dog or not, youโ€™d probably agree with me when I say that a dog knows when it has finally met its destined human.

And as we all know dogs, their senses are, of course, beyond humanโ€™s so they definitely know if someone will hurt them or not.

Thatโ€™s what exactly happened to Officers Mercado and Tavera of the LAPD Hollywood division when they came across a big surprise in a tiny package while theyโ€™re out on patrol one day in October 2019.

It was just like any other sunny Hollywood day when they unexpectedly crossed paths with a tiny puppy that had been abandoned and seemingly left to fend for himself on the streets.

The two officers came across the pup on Hobart Boulevard and the furry fella clearly knew heโ€™d be safe around them because he began to follow the pair and wouldnโ€™t give up.

Their vow to serve and to protect also applies to animals, so Officers Mercado and Tavera decided to bring the little paw patroller into their station.

They decided to name him โ€œHobartโ€ after the place they originally found him.

Where did Hobart come from?

Itโ€™s unclear how Hobart ended up on the street that day but itโ€™s likely that the first thing the officers did was to make sure he was, indeed, abandoned and not just lost.

Hobart took a particular liking to Officer Mercado โ€” as did many of the commenters who saw the LAPDโ€™s Twitter post about the sweet gesture.

At first, the LAPD handed the dog over to a shelter to find him a new home, but people really wanted Hobartโ€™s happy ending to be with one of the officers.

Officer Mercado decided to adopt little Hobart from the Ghetto Rescue Foundation and the pup couldnโ€™t be happier.

A few months later, the shelter posted an update about Hobartโ€™s new and happy life.

โ€œUpdate on Hobart (GRFF name Fidzgit) heโ€™s the most loving and lively puppy. He loves all of his puppy cousins and will chew on his toys for hours. Heโ€™s still learning potty training and loves the outdoors/play time in the grass!โ€ reported his dad.

Just look at that happy little face โ€” and those giant ears!

Hobart enjoys spending his days napping and playing, just like any other dog, and he is still clearly grateful to his dad for saving him from the mean streets that day back in October.

While dog-lovers have called for Hobart to get his own social media accounts, it looks like heโ€™ll be living the rest of his life outside of the limelight.

And while many outlets have surmised that Hobart will join the divisionโ€™s K-9 unit, heโ€™s far too small for that kind of work.

At least we know heโ€™s got a happy life ahead of him and was spared the trauma of living on the streets.

This story separates Officers Mercado and Tavera from the current issues about the police. It instead shows that authorities like them also have a soft and kind heart not only for people but also for animals in need. And in Officer Mercadoโ€™s case, he didnโ€™t think twice about giving little Hobart his forever home.
