The great thing about animals is that theyโ€™re funny without meaning to be. Their hilarious antics have been widely available for us to see since the internet first became a thing, and weโ€™ve spent way too much of our time on YouTube laughing at videos of countless comical pets.

More often than not, our pets will try their best to fit in with those around them.

The desire to fit in is something that we humans understand all too well. According to Psychology Today, โ€œThe need for acceptance is a basic human instinct โ€“ although some value it more than others. We all want to fit in, to belong. In order to achieve that, we often present slightly different versions of who we are, depending on the environment and whose company we are in.โ€

As it turns out, animals donโ€™t feel too different from us about the matter!

How often has your dog come to sit at the dinner table with you when youโ€™re eating? Yes, it may be down to the fact that youโ€™re eating something seriously tasty, but itโ€™s probably also likely that they want to be a part of the family routine. Do they go to bed when you do? We bet they do.

And itโ€™s not just dogs who like to mimic the behavior of others.

Weโ€™re all aware that dogs make great companions, but did you know that cockatoos also provide great company? They are affectionate, funny, comical, mischievous, and generally easy to get along with- and donโ€™t be fooled just because theyโ€™re a bird, as it turns out that they have their own little personalities!

And we have the video to prove it to you.

The video of a cockatoo meowing like a cat (yes, you read that right) was uploaded onto YouTube by DailyPicksandFlicks, and has since received over 9.5 million views. In all honesty, just the title alone would be enough to draw us into watching it.

It turns out that this cockatoo lives with a whole group of cats, and the poor little guy just wanted to fit in.

We all know how it usually goes when cats are around birds, so weโ€™re not surprised that this clever cockatoo was trying to keep himself in disguise.

Cockatoos are great at mimicking other noises, so mastering the meow of a cat was no trouble for this clever bird. And apparently, it really does have a lot to do with fitting in.

โ€œIn the wild, parrots use their vocal prowess to share important information and fit in with the flock, says Irene Pepperberg, a research associate and part-time lecturer at Harvard.โ€ โ€“ Audubon

In the video, the cockatoo shows absolutely no hesitation, as he walks over to the cats and begins to meow!

The meow is so realistic, that if we closed our eyes we would honestly think that the noise was coming from a cat. Itโ€™s like heโ€™s a cat stuck in a birdโ€™s body!

As you can imagine, the poor cats were incredibly confused by the meowing bird.

The poor bird doesnโ€™t seem to read the room, and despite the catsโ€™ looks of clear confusion, he walks closer and closer to them until his beak is right in their faces- all the while maintaining his creepily realistic meow.

One cat even decides that sheโ€™s had enough of this strange bird, and walks away from him.

The bird, on the other hand, has decided that he is now a part of the family. He sounds like a cat, so they must be able to believe that he is one.
