Sometimes even parents wonder where their kids get certain goofy parts of their personalities.
By the laughter in the background, we think little Lily’s family was wondering just that as she stole the show at her preschool recital at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Ohio.
The 5-year-old’s grandmother, Martina Blair, filmed her performing in the front row to a song called “Tooty Ta” at an end-of-year performance.
The hysterical and attention-grabbing moves have caused the video to go viral.
Over the course of 3 minutes, Lily goes from dancing to making faces to being the loudest and proudest singer in the bunch.
While the other children swayed along, following some of the directions to give the “thumbs up” or put their “knees together,” Lily got her groove on.
When Blair posted the clip on Facebook, she had no idea it would get 12 million views in just two days!
“I put that video out there as a way for people to forget about it all for five minutes and just have a reason to smile,” she told local news channel WHIO.
Blair said Lily was a “natural performer,” who loves to sing and dance, arts and crafts and everything Disney and called her “our hysterical little blessing.”
We’re not sure about you, but we can appreciate both Lily’s moves as well as the embarrassment of the little girl standing next to her covering her face with a stuffed animal and unable to look.
But the shy girl’s aunt weighed in on Facebook to let everyone know all was well, she just doesn’t like being in front of an audience but got the courage to go up on stage anyway.
Cordray was also a fan of Lily’s performance, noting in a later comment:
“The girl getting down… love her! That’s not showing off that showing how music touches her soul:):) two polar opposites next to each other! Everyone is different.”
A full range of personalities are on display in the video – ranging from introverted to unimpressed to all-in.
It certainly looks like Lily is used to stealing the spotlight.
We don’t know how the other kids and parents felt about the performance, but our guess is that Lily doesn’t care. She was too busy busting a move.
Commenters were all too happy to see a little girl dance like no one was watching, calling her a “free spirit” and a “leader.”
Many commenters are calling the little girl their “spirit animal.” Most of us only wish we still had the energy and moxie to put on a performance like this.
In the end, the song’s lyrics are dictating Lily’s moves, so she’s really just following instructions, with her own little spin of course.
Between Blair’s original video and the news footage, Lily has been seen around the world tens of millions of times. And, luckily, this is one of the rare moments when most of the comments are encouraging.
It’s nice to see people rally behind a little girl wanting to have a good time.
If you want a good laugh, be sure to scroll down and watch the whole performance.
