This high occurrence rate could account for all those times someone has sworn they met you before, or all those times your friends said they thought they saw you the other night at the club, which is impossible because you were at home in your PJs watching How I Met Your Mother.

These freaky lookalikes are called Dopplegangers, and they’re so common that How I Met Your Mother has made the crew’s dopplegangers a part of the overall storyline. However, exact lookalikes are less common.

Exact lookalikes, according to Science Alert, are far less common, however, and the likelihood of running into someone who looks identical to you is 1 in 1 trillion. Exact lookalikes refer to people with the same facial measurements as you. While it would be creepy to run into an identical match, it isn’t likely.
