The urge to protect your loved ones is something that exists within all of us.
The urge is so strong that it can oftentimes transcend fear and make us step into situations that we would otherwise try to avoid.
Personally, I try to avoid conflict as much as possible and it usually takes a lot to set me off.
If someone is messing with me, I’ll usually brush it off and keep it from escalating into something bigger– I just don’t care that much.
However, the second that someone starts to mess with someone that I care about, it’s like a flip gets switched inside of me.
I can’t stand it–I have to do something in order to stop it.
And I think that this is something that a lot of people can relate to as well.
But it’s not just people who want to look out for their friends and family.
Animals are known to do the same thing.
And for one cat, seeing her puppy-friend get hit by another cat was all it took to set her off.
In the video below, you can see a puppy wagging his tail and going over to check out a cat that is standing on a short retaining wall.
The puppy hops up onto the wall and sniffs the cat.
The cat doesn’t like this and turns around to face the puppy.
The puppy backs up, lifting his face into the air.
They stare at each other for a moment before the dog decides that he wants to go in for another sniff.
The cat doesn’t like this at all and swings a couple of open claws in the puppy’s direction.
She connects and smacks the puppy right in the face.
The puppy jumps back to the ground and the cat stays on the retaining wall, seemingly victorious in her fight.
But that’s when the puppy’s cat-friend jumps into action.
This cat has been sitting on a table watching the whole thing, and she didn’t like what she saw.
In order to keep the other cat from messing with her puppy-friend again, she was going to have to do something–so she did.
The cat jumps off of the table and runs towards the bully cat on the retaining wall.
She jumps up at the cat and swats at her with her claws.
The other cat swings down at the attacking cat and the two are locked in a momentary cat-fight.
The protective cat is able to knock the bully cat off of the wall and down onto the floor where she is.
They both let out some cat groans as they continue to smack each other with their claws.
The video ends there, so we can’t be sure how the fight is settled.
But we do know one thing for sure, the bully cat is going to think twice before trying to smack that puppy again.
It’s awesome to see a cat stand up for her friend and it should be a reminder for us to stand up for ours as well.
Afterall, you’d want your friend to stand up for you if the tables were turned.
Check out the video below and be sure to pass it on to whoever you think may enjoy it, too.
