Cats are known to be pretty standoffish creatures. Compared to dogs, they are very independent. They learn what they need to learn and then they take that information so that they can go off and do whatever they want. You, a human? No, they don’t care about that. They just want to be alone forever. (That’s how it seems at least.)
This cat proves that all of that is just a hoax though. Cats, apparently, do care about their owners. At least, that’s the impression we get from this one specific cat.
In 2016, a hilarious video of a concerned cat was shared on the internet. It shows the cat’s owner in the shower. We can’t actually see them, but we can hear them singing quite loudly. The woman has an impressively high-pitched voice as she tackles Broadway-style songs.
What makes this shower performance unlike any other is the appearance of the woman’s cat. As she sings, the cat is extremely intrigued. We have to say that the cat actually looks pretty concerned if anything.
The cat is propped up on top of a toilet seat as it peers into the shower to find her owner. When her owner begins to sing dramatically, the cat begins to meow. She meows a lot and loudly!
Maybe the cat is trying to sing along with her owner and that’s why she is meowing so much? It is honestly hard to tell what the cat wants, but for almost 2 minutes, it refuses to leave her owner’s side.
At one point, the woman stops singing. Then the cat stops meowing (it’s like science!). The woman reaches her hand out to meet the cat’s face. Then the cat sniffs her and just confirms that she is very confused.
The woman pulls her hand back in and starts to sing again… Surely enough, the cat chimes in the meowing as well. When the human sings, the cat meows apparently. The person filming the video chuckles from behind the camera and we can’t blame them — this is truly bizarre.
The cat shows no intention of leaving the woman’s side either. She continues to sit there and she even pops her head through the shower curtain a few times. Basically, this cat has no sense of personal boundaries. It makes for hilarious content though.
The concerned cat reached viral stardom as the video gained thousands of views since it was shared a few years back. Tons of people commented with their own scenarios, making fun of what the cat could have been thinking in that moment.
“‘Mommy, mommy, it’s okay! No need to cry! This is why we lick ourselves clean, no need to drown yourself in that god awful amount of water!'” One person said in a comment.
Another person commented with a theory that the cat might be worried that the woman was in pain.
“Cats do not understand loud voices, for them it is either anger or pain and since you do not seem to be angry, this cat might interpret it as pain. I am a vet and ethologist, specialized in felines… I believe the cat might be trying to rescue you,” one person posted.
So interesting!
