Who doesn’t like fishing?
Hearing the crash of the waves, feeling the rush of the wind, listening to the birds above; these are all some of the best parts of a fishing trip.
The only thing better? Reeling in your line and seeing a nice, juicy fish hooked on to the end of it!
Sometimes the fish gets eaten, and sometimes it gets thrown back into the water. Regardless of the particular outcome, in the end, humans are generally the ones making the decisions.
We are the masters of these little fishes’ fates, ultimately choosing whether they will live or die.
One little fish in Brno, Czech, however, decided that on April 12th, 2017, he would be the one calling the shots.
The fish’s decision just so happened to be caught on film and has since been uploaded to YouTube.
The short, 23-second video begins by showing two young fishermen admiring their most recent catch: a nice, plump carp.
They have no idea what’s about to happen next!
Speaking amongst themselves, the man in the black sweater lowers himself to the ground, laying out a mat for his partner to place the fish.
But, when the man in the green sweater kneels to put the fish down, the chunky carp takes this opportunity to try and escape and begins flapping his tail wildly.
As the carp twists and bends its body, the man in green begins losing his grip.
After a few seconds, the fish manages to completely evade the first man, while the fisherman in black dives into the rocks after it.
A branch acts as an obstacle to the large fish, blocking its way for a short period of time.
After a short struggle, however, the big carp manages to break free and swim away, much to the shock and dismay of the two disappointed fishermen.
This video, which was uploaded by ViralHog on June 27th, 2017, has already garnered almost 1 million views.
Most of the viewers seem to be in support of the fish’s great escape. YouTube user DebrisHauler comments, “This is straight out of Finding Nemo 3”. Another writes, “Smart fish dumb man!”
I can personally say that I was definitely rooting for the fish in this one!
