After 9 years away from home, Brownie the dog was finally reunited with his original owners.
There are some miraculous stories about dogs returning to their homes but none are quite as amazing as Brownie’s. The 15-year-old Shih Tzu was found wandering the streets in bad condition, being both blind and deaf. After being discovered in front of a tattoo shop in El Mirage, rescuers speculated that Brownie had likely suffered years of neglect before being abandoned to live on the streets.
Rescuers took him in to see if perhaps they might be able to check his microchip for information, but had little luck. His owner’s information was out of date.
“He can’t even make it in my home, from one room to another, without a great deal of difficulty,” said Kathy Hamel from the Shih Tzu and Small Breed Rescue. “Someone had to have left him there [outside]. It’s amazing he wasn’t coyote food.”
While the contact information for Brownie’s owner wasn’t up to date, his owner’s name still came up. Kathy Hamel took it upon herself to hunt down Brownie’s long lost owners, taking to social media in hopes of finding them.
“I found her on Facebook and P.M.’ed her,” said Kathy Hamel about her search, “and asked her if she had a dog named Brownie that had gone missing.”
Suddenly, Brownie’s story started to come together.
Brownie went missing from his home in Peoria 9 years ago, according to his original owner pictured below. After having little luck in finding her lost dog while times passed, Brownie’s family had to give up their search but never forgot their beloved pet.
“I just can’t believe it,” Brownie’s owner began to tear up as she help her dog again for the first time in 9 years. “I just never thought I was going to see him again, ever.”
Thankfully, Brownie’s miraculous and mysterious tale has finally come to an end with him back in the arms of his grateful owners, where he truly belongs.
