Chained Dog Is Finally Pet For The First Time
This dog feared humans because of how he was treated but found it in himself to trust them again.

Why people have pets just to chain them up outside and neglect them, I’ll never know. And why they would starve or injure an animal rather than drop them off at a shelter is just beyond me.

However, that is the life that Bron lived for 8 years.

During those years, Bron spent his entire life chained up on a farm in Spain. Thankfully, one day he was rescued by the kind souls at Animal Rescue Espana. He was, however, in a terrible state when he was found.

His rescuers found that he had several injuries that need to be treated along with never having been shown affection.

That made their treatment of him incredibly hard.

“Bron is one of the most difficult cases we have encountered,” Pilar Delgado of Animal Rescue Espana told The Dodo. “When we first approached, he would flee, snarling.”

All Bron had even been shown was harshness and neglect, so he didn’t know how to react when he was shown some love.

It took a while for Bron to trust his rescuers but they never gave up on him. Finally, Bron allowed them to pet him.

The moment could have been the first time he has ever experienced love.

After that first moment, Bron started to warm up but the years of trauma weighed on him and he had a long way to go toward full recovery.

He worked with an expert dog trainer for a year who helped to socialize him to the point where he could be adopted into a forever home.

“He is a happy dog, but he still has barriers to overcome,” Delgado said. “Bron’s heart still hopes that, despite all difficulties, he can live out his days with a family.”

Unfortunately, Bron didn’t make to that point. He was just put up for adoption but died on Tuesday. The folks at Animal Rescue Espana posted a heartfelt tribute to him on Facebook.

“Bron is gone, he has crossed the rainbow, and leaves us a hard vacuum to fill. Every dog is special and different,” a translation of the post reads. “He came to us after 8 years in chains, after a lot of suffering. It cost us to earn his trust. He was our grumpy, our challenge, our friend. He was learning to live, to trust, to be happy, with special education.”

Bron’s heart reportedly stopped beating.

“But his memory, his essence, will continue to live between us. So long, pal, we’ll never forget you.”

Though he never lived with a loving family, he was surely loved by those who cared for him and lived out his last days as a happy dog.
