Pre’Knechia Ja’Nae is a DIY Consummate who is “trying to make my home look like something out of a magazine. I’m here to teach the millennials and beyond how to decorate your home without breaking the bank and have fun doing it as well!”

In this video, she has gotten a broken, old dresser and she makes it look brand new. And she barely had to purchase anything to give it a much-needed makeover.

To get started on this DIY project, she used: Behr Premium Paint, paint brushes, Black and Decker Sander, Outus crystal knobs, a drill/screwdriver, and glitter.

Pre’Knechia thinks someone else tried to start a DIY project on this dresser before her, but they didn’t get around to finishing it. Her first step was to sand the dresser down to get rid of the original coat of paint.

After sanding it down, she then removes all of the hardware on the dressers. When sanding, Pre’Knechia reminds everyone to sand the entire drawer and not to forget any spots. She instructs her followers to keep these just in case they might need them at the end of the DIY.

In order to avoid chipped paint, Pre’Knechia primers the dresser and each drawer. She picked the first paint primer she found at Home Depot. On the dresser, she used primer on the top, the sides, and the bottom bars.

To get started on the first coat of paint, Pre’Knechia uses her Behr black paint and covers the dresser and each drawer in it.

The key to a good looking coat of paint is making sure each stroke is as even and consistent as possible.

After giving the dressers and drawers a second coat of black paint, she then gives the dresser a fancier look by sprinkling it with glitter. The finishing touch of the crystal knobs makes this a classy and simple DIY project!
