Most brides feel nervous before their wedding. People say its the most important time of your life; you’ve spent ages planning and preparing, and now, the commitment seems real. A bride named “Casey”, however, had a case of the butterflies for an entirely different reason.

In a post on Whimn, she describes how, on the night before her wedding, she discovered the details of her fiancé’s sordid affair— only to get the last laugh.

According to the post, Casey and “Alex” had been together for the past six years. She had fallen head-over-heels for her fiancé and truly believed he was ‘The One’— but little did she know, he’d been having an affair behind her back.

After getting engaged, Casey and Alex went through all the steps of planning a wedding. She couldn’t wait for the big day.

Then, the night before the wedding ceremony, she received a series of anonymous texts.

In the Whimn post, she writes:

“The message was a series of screenshots from a number I didn’t recognize.”

“The accompanying message simply said, ‘I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?'”

It seemed Alex’s other woman had tracked Casey down, wanting to give her all the information before she walked down the aisle.

The screenshots detailed months of conversations between Alex and the mistress, some as recent as only a few days before.

There were selfies, and photographs, and (of course) raunchy declarations of love:

“This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game.”

“Your body is f***ing incredible. And s**t, do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do.”

“I miss you so much. I can’t stop thinking about L, S, F’ing you. I’ve never had this kind of connection before.”

Casey was devastated. Her friends encouraged her to cancel the wedding— but she had a better idea.

Casey kept the revelation private, and on the day of her wedding, she pretended like nothing was wrong.

“I walked down the aisle with leaden feet, my dream dress now just a costume,” she wrote. “As he saw my face he knew this was not an ecstatic woman, but he had no idea what was coming.”

“There will be no wedding today,” Casey told the startled guests.

“It seems Alex is not who I thought he was.”

Casey then proceeded to read each word of the private messages the woman had sent her— as the color drained from Alex’s face.

In the end, the fiancé stalked out of the hall followed by his best man. “I love you all and as horrible as this is, I’m glad you’re all here,” Casey told the guests.

“There will not be a wedding today, but there will be a celebration of honest, finding true love, and following your heart even when it hurts.”
