In his recent Academy Award win as Best Actor for his portrayal of Charlie in Darren Aronofsky’s ‘The Whale‘, there is so much more to love about Brendan Fraser other than his impeccable acting skills.

We all know him as downright a great actor from his notable blockbuster movies like The Mummy (1999), The Mummy Returns (2001), Journey To The Center Of The Earth (2008), and George Of The Jungle (1997).

But there is more to him than what he does in front of the camera, you would definitely love him more behind it.

An incredibly kind man.

FX artist Dave Rand could attest to this, in fact, he already shared a 2007 anecdote about the recent Academy Award Best Actor winner.

In Fraser’s sci-fi adventure movie, “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, Rand worked as an FX Lead for Montreal-based Meteor Studios.

According to Rand, Fraser provided him and his entire team with help in an enormous way when, unfortunately, the studio went bankrupt.

Going back to that time, Meteor Studios owed Rand and his FX crew $1.3 million in salaries.

In a Twitter post that Rand posted on March 13, 2023, he explained that their paychecks stopped coming in way back in November 2007 after Meteor Studios went bankrupt.

According to Rand’s story, he tried sharing their story with different news outlets but they were given hard passes.

He even tried letting Fraser know about what happened to him and his crew but the message never reached the actor.

Patience.

Thankfully, someone from New York City contacted Rand and after an hour, his story was already published on Page Six, the gossip page of The Post.

A couple of minutes after, his phone rang again with an NYC area code. He thought it was the woman who wrote the article, but to his surprise, it was a man asking if he was Dave Rand.

When he affirmed it was him, the man, later on, revealed who he was and it’s none other than Brendan Fraser.

As it turned out, Fraser had no idea that Meteor Studios went bankrupt and wasn’t able to complete Rand and his team’s salaries.

The ever-so-kind actor listened to Rand’s side of the story and promised to talk to him until matters get straightened out for him and his crew.

To help Rand and his team, Fraser publicly campaigned for them to get paid.

Finally.

After almost two years when the story was heard, Rand and his crew finally received 80% of what they were owed.

Rand was beyond thankful to Fraser who did everything to the best of his ability to help them. He even called the actor a ‘righteous dude’ because ‘he gave them wings when they had none.’

Fraser knew Rand and his team worked hard day in and out, so he used even his celebrity status to give them what rightfully belonged to them.

This story only makes Fraser one of Hollywood’s kindest, down-to-Earth, and most helpful actors.

He is not just an amazing actor but also an awesome human being even when the camera isn’t rolling.
