It’s not uncommon for people to come across a cat outside their house. A cat that has wandered into someone’s property could just be someone’s pet that is lost and in search of food. So, it seems perfectly fine to feed it and show it some kindness and compassion. It might also be a good idea to keep the cat at home while trying to locate its owner.

That was exactly what one woman in Richmond, Virginia, who found a cat outside her house had done. She too knew that it was perfectly fine to temporarily keep a cat that had wandered into her property.

The cat was trapped in the fence outside her house the night that the woman found her. The woman brought the cat inside the house. The next day, she went on Craigslist to try to find its owner.

She did what any person would have done in the situation. However, there was one small problem. She later found out the cat was actually a wild cat.

It became apparent to her that what she found outside her house was actually a bobcat after people on Craiglist pointed it out.

The woman then posted an update on Craigslist after having made the very unusual discovery. She also realized that she made a mistake of bringing the wild animal inside her house:

“No wonder he was so grumpy!! I kidnapped him!!” she said.

She mentioned that she did not come from America and had never seen a bobcat before the night she found the animal.

She had been sure that bobcats were much larger than typical domesticated cats. And, although the cat she had found was large, she thought it’s only because the cat was a house pet.

Bobcats are wild animals but they are not considered dangerous to humans. However, if there is one piece of advice when dealing with bobcats, it is to never try petting them.

The woman in Virginia, however, had tried petting the bobcat. But, it immediately became clear to her that the bobcat did not like it.

“Almost lost my fingers this morning trying to pet him,” she wrote.

And, the cat was also “growling and hissing and calling all morning” for reasons unknown to her.

“He is just a big grouch,” she added.

Having already found out that the cat was a wild animal, the woman took it back near the trees where she found it.

She mentioned in the update of her post that it gave her happiness to know that the bobcat was not really a lost cat. She also mentioned that she was okay and that she actually did not sustain injuries from the wild cat.

“If you are one of the people who told me nicely out of concern, thank you and have a nice day!! If you Are one of the people who was rude to me and tried to mock me for not knowing, you can have a bad day!!( maybe if he comes back I’ll send him ur way 👹🤣)Bye bye!” she wrote.
