The dollar store is filled with a variety of items at an incredibly cheap price. But how do we know which items are bargains and which items are overpriced? It’s hard to trust the value and quality of each item when they are only $1.
At Shareably, we wondered the same things, and we have put together a list of the best valued goods at a dollar store.
Glassware
Glassware found at dollar stores are great bargains if you find the right kinds. Be sure to look past the ones that are too flimsy. You can find decorative mugs, bowls, plates, and wine glasses for a super cheap price.
Clean And Tidy
Brand name cleaning products are well-known and trusted, so it might be hard to trust the cleaning products at the dollar store. However, there are still a few bargains and deals to be had at the dollar store. Measuring cups and spoons, pre-cut foil sheets, trash bags are great buys at the dollar store.
Avoid generic dish soap, light bulbs, and batteries found at the dollar store, though. They are low quality and not worth the $1.
Party Supplies
Party supplies are a huge steal at the dollar store. For starters, you will probably not be reusing these supplies. Secondly, the dollar store has a wide variety of supplies suitable for all types of parties. Whether it’s a graduation, birthday party, or baby shower, the dollar store has you covered.
Tissue paper, wrapping paper, tape, stationary, party favors, and tablecloths are great buys, but stay way from scissors, plastic utensils, and paper plates.
Personal Items
Some personal items are good buys. Pregnancy tests, toothbrushes, and reading glasses are good deals, but toothpaste, mouthwash, razors, and any lotion or cream are not.
Craft Supplies
Cotton ball, foam blocks, glass vases, and faux fruit are great deals, but glue sticks, picture frames, and porcelain figures are not.
Plastic Storage Containers
If you need containers, then the dollar store should be your top destination. To-go containers, aluminum containers, bags, baskets, and pretty much any container you can think of are great to buy here.
Seasonal Items
If you are decorating the house for a specific season, then visit your dollar store. Pool items and holiday favors are great deals here. Avoid pool googles, plastic squirt toys, and yard lights.
Teaching Supplies
Avoid scissors, crayons, and pencils as they are a waste of money. Instead, focus on tape, notepads, sharpies, sidewalk chalk, and envelopes.
Children’s Toys
Avoid the hula hoops, crayons, and battery-operated toys. Dollar stores have aisles full of these low-quality goods, and your children will insist on buying them.
Instead, buy them coloring books, glow-in-the-dark sticks, candy, and hardback books. These items are higher quality and worth the price.
