Little kids have a habit of getting up to mischief – and an even cheekier habit of lying about what they did.
It’s thought that little children lie partly because of experimentation and imaginative play. As kids learn and develop, they like to push boundaries and see what can and can’t be done. Getting up to mischief, and then lying about it, is typical of a child going through a development stage.
One little boy who was clearly going through this stage himself is Noel Hopkins.
This adorable toddler, who looks a little like a chubby-faced miniature of Harry Potter with his tiny glasses, made internet fame 3 years ago when his mom’s home videos of him being his cute self went viral.
Noel, who was aged 3 at the time of becoming a viral sensation, has his own YouTube channel, which is bursting with adorable videos of himself.
On his channel, Noel can be seen singing “Baby Shark”, writing his letter to Santa, naming dinosaurs, and reading bedtime stories, to name just a few of his antics.
But his fanbase of adoring viewers love him most when he’s being cheeky, like in the “Batman did it” episode.
In the 15-second clip, Noel stands next to a lipstick-adorned mirror, while his mom, Laura, can be heard asking him who did it.
Looking genuinely perplexed, the toddler stands against the bed to peer at the mirror in confusion. He replies to his mom,
“I don’t know.”
When mom asks him, “Was it you?” Noel says no, even though it’s pretty obvious to everyone that this mirror drawing is the work of a child. Mom asks who it was, then, and Noel’s response is adorable:
“It’s Batman!”
Bless the little lad, he’s so very convinced that a superhero could have swooped into his mom’s bedroom to draw on his mirror.
Noel clearly doesn’t have any brothers or sisters, and it’s likely that Batman was the first person he could think of to lay the blame on.
Though we applaud him for his highly creative response, he probably would have been better off blaming the neighbor!
Noel is so ridiculously cute that his mom must have a hard time disciplining him. And, for something as innocent as drawing lipstick on a mirror, we think he deserves to be let off.
And his army of internet fans would probably say the same too!
Noel’s “Batman did it” video was viewed more than 7 million times, and he since went on to become incredibly famous.
Thanks to his adorable smile and endearing accent, Noel’s video was shared by numerous news outlets across the world.
His mom, Laura, realized that she wasn’t the only one who thought her son was adorable – and started to share more videos online.
In the height of his fame, Noel appeared on British daytime television This Morning, where he melted the region’s hearts once more.
Noel, who’s a big fan of dinosaurs, was presented with a stuffed T-rex by the show’s presenters, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. He thanked them for their present by imitating a dinosaur roar, much to the delight of the audience.
What’s for sure, Noel is one of the most adorable 3-year-olds the world has seen!
