Reunions can always be emotional. When it’s a reunion between a wife and her military husband who’s been deployed for six months, that’s a times-two on the emotional scale. And when the wife undergoes a dramatic makeover, losing over fifty pounds, don’t even bother with the calculator, you’ve just got to see it.
Rachael Ray is joined by Miss USA (and Captain in the US Army Reserves!), Deshauna Barber to introduce this amazing story.
“Army wife Lisa Beal from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, has lost a whopping 50 pounds in the past six months, and her hubby, Sergeant Terrance Beal, has been deployed overseas that whole time, so he has no idea!”
Deshauna goes on to tell the audience about the amazing makeover that Lisa has received.
“When you see her you’re just gonna fall in love. Her body looks amazing (in) this gorgeous royal blue dress… Her hair is cut, highlighted. Franco from the cutler did an amazing job contouring her face with her hair… She just looks stunning, she really does”
Rachael takes us back a step and shows us the “before” picture of Lisa at the beginning of her journey.
It’s clear that she’s very shy in the picture and lacks self-confidence. Hopefully with her dramatic makeover, she has gained a higher self-esteem and has become more outgoing. I guess you have to be at least a little outgoing to broadcast your makeover on television!
Not only is her husband not expecting her to have had such a dramatic makeover, but he is not expecting her to have lost so much weight because as Rachael explains-
He doesn’t know it because she lied her butt off and said that she gained more weight since he left!
Rachael then chuckles wildly at the hilarious deception.
The only thing left now is the reveal!
Lisa steps out to a roaring audience. She’s radiant with her brand new hair style, stunning new dress, and fresh face of beautiful makeup.
As Lisa steps out the audience go wild for her new look! Dashauna even does a mock bow, as if worshiping the new Lisa. She still seems quite reserved in the spotlight, although now she’s beaming with confidence in her new look. Some people never feel comfortable centre-stage, but her visible tension seems to be because of something else…
Are you comfortable? Because you look good!
Rachael asks, picking up on Lisa’s tensely raised shoulders.
I’m comfortable but I’m just anxious to see what I look like! Lisa responds.
Rachael neglected to tell the audience that Lisa hadn’t even seen herself yet!
This whole time Lisa has kept from seeing her whole now look. Well now’s the time! Lisa turns to see herself on the big screen, and is shocked by what she sees.
She can’t believe it! Between the makeover and the incredible weight loss she can barely recognize herself! Of course, the BIG moment is still to come…
The big reveal to her husband, whom she hasn’t seen in six months!
The moment has come, and Sergeant Terrance Beal steps out to his his wife’s whole new look. He’s glowing with excitement!
The audience gives him a standing ovation, and the couple embrace, with six months of separation behind them. When Rachael asks what he thinks, he beams:
“She looks amazing!”
Of course, Rachael has to take a second to croon, herself
“I, am a sucker for a man in uniform!”
