A woman in Wasila, Alaska got a funny surprise recently when a few giant guests decided to pay her and her family a visit in the middle of the night.

When Summer Hooke woke up the next morning to find strange footprints all over her snow-covered front porch, she obviously had to find out who they were from.

She went to check her security camera footage to have a look, and what she found was absolutely hilarious.

Right there standing on her porch at 3:00 am was a female moose, happily munching away on the family’s potted plants.

Turns out the hungry animal was in need of a little midnight snack.

It seems like it wasn’t that tasty though. Shortly after she started eating it, she changed her mind, tossed the flowerpot on the ground and wandered off.

Although, that wasn’t the end of the moose’s late night foraging expedition.

A few minutes later, the moose decided to return once again, and this time she brought a friend with her to help.

Hooke and her husband couldn’t believe what they were seeing. The pair of moose were just so nonchalant about their crime, casually trespassing and eating away without a care in the world.

In an interview with The Dodo, Hooke elaborated on the moose’s visit:

“She was basically looking in our front door windows. We get them in our yard regularly, but they don’t usually come that close to the front door,” Hooke said.

Things in Alaska are definitely a little different than what most of us are used to.

Apparently, getting visits from big game animals is a pretty regular occurrence. Hooke’s neighbors were also familiar with the friendly moose.

“My neighbors said they named her Twiggy,” Hooke said. “She’s a smaller female and has been hanging out in the area for about three years now.”

Looks like it’s about time to hide those potted plants!

“We were laughing,” Hooke said. “It’s always a surprise living in Alaska! You never know what you’ll run into next.”

This isn’t the first time the moose have come wandering around in the middle of the night, and it definitely won’t be the last either.

According to a story by KTVA, another family living outside of Anchorage even had moose doorbell ditch them a few days ago. At 1:30 a.m., the Stultz family’s doorbell started going off. After looking outside and not seeing anything, they too decided to check their security cameras.

“We were thinking kids coming through playing ding dong ditch or maybe a neighbor coming through. We had no idea,” said Kyle Stultz.

What they found was that a moose had backed up towards their door, ringing the bell with its behind. Now that’s a story they won’t soon forget!
