School holiday concerts are a great way for kids to showcase their talents. It’s a great opportunity to bring the family together and celebrate the holidays with the community.

Some children, however, would love to skip the show and cut straight to the best part, missing school. But there is one little girl who enjoys the holidays so much, she put on a performance that her family, peers, and now the world, will never forget.

Kelly Cardillo’s daughter, Lucy Cardillo, set the internet ablaze with her performance for her school holiday concert.

Like most parents, Kelly recorded the performance but unlike most parents, her 8-year old daughter’s performance raked up over 20 million views on Facebook. The video has also been shared over 250,000 times and has over 200,000 reactions.

The two and a half minute video shows Lucy putting on a performance of a lifetime.

The video begins with the kids facing away from the audience. There is a brief intro before the kids turn around and begin singing. But as soon as it’s time, Lucy is ready. While the other kids slowly turn around to face the audience, Lucy leaps an excited 180 and goes into star-mode. Stage fright is most definitely something she doesn’t have.

Lucy performs with such zeal and vigor, she may be the only one you see in the video. Realizing how much her daughter stands out, Kelly captioned the video:

“This is my Daughter at her school Christmas concert. She brought the house down. See if you can guess which one she is.”

It’s a hilarious caption because clearly, her daughter can’t be missed. Sporting a red dress and a red bow to match, one can’t help but smile. She seems to be having the time of her life up there. She’s smiling just as much as the viewer.

You can hear Kelly and some audience members getting a kick out of the performance. They laugh and cheer for the rising star throughout the video.

The song that Lucy is grooving so vigorously to is called, “Blitzen’s Boogie”. It’s a favorite amongst elementary school teachers looking to put on a holiday show. It’s easy to see why. It’s an up-tempo song with a swing beat. The song mentions all of Santa’s beloved reindeer with a special ode to none other than Blitzen.

There are plenty of moments to pick out in the video but one that stands out is when the kids shake their hips from side-to-side as part of their choreography. Lucy has so much fun with the movement, she derails from the beat entirely and can’t seem to stop. When the movement ends, Lucy’s smile is replaced with an extremely focused and determined look. It’s absolutely adorable. It lasts only a second before the next movement begins and Lucy’s smile returns, brightening the room.

Judging by the comments on the video, the viewers sure enjoyed the performance:

“Superstar already!! So much fire in her blessed soul!! She Rocks!!”

“Did y’all see the shoulder in the drum beat. She is soooo good. Great job Mom.”

“Broadway bound! You have to be born with that kind of star quality.”

Kelly was just as surprised about her daughter’s performance as the viewers:

“That’s her personality. But she doesn’t always perform like that,” said her mother. “I think she just really felt that song.”

Turns out, performing runs in the family. Her older brother does theater.

Kelly was just happy that Lucy’s performance received such a positive response. Lucy’s previous school would ask her to “tone down her enthusiasm” in her performances.

“She’s a natural performer. She’s very comfortable being on stage,” Kelly says.

She certainly is! We’re glad that Lucy is somewhere where she can be accepted as the bright light that she is. Because as they say, everyday a star is born.
