You’ve no doubt heard of America’s Got Talent, in which all sorts of performers – singers, dancers, magicians, comics, musicians, and even ventriloquists – show off their skills in front of celebrity judges hoping to advance to the next round and ultimately win a $1 million prize.
But now there’s a worldwide competition and one stunning performance is racking up the YouTube views, topping a quarter of a million clicks in just a few weeks!
Not necessarily something you would expect from ballet.
But that’s because this is no regular pas de deux.
The performance that earned a dancing duo the coveted Golden Buzzer was something between ballet and gymnastics – with some Cirque du Soleil influence thrown in!
The Golden Buzzer is the best a performer can hope for – and a rare occurrence on the show.
It sits in the middle of the judges’ table and a judge can hit it at any time to automatically send an act on to the live semi-finals, even if the other judges would have passed on them.
This performance all started off as a fairly normal – if breathtakingly graceful – ballet-style dance.
Amazing flexibility combined with what looked to be effortless strength was quick to impress the female judges.
But then things got complex – the balancing required to pull off this routine was something that made everyone a bit nervous!
From not wanting to watch in case something went wrong to holding their breath, the judges marveled at moves like this:
Notice that she is ON POINTE on his shoulder – a seemingly impossible feat for both dancers!
But we don’t want to spoil all of the surprises, so the whole performance can be found below.
While the judges’ comments aren’t in English, some kind YouTubers were happy to translate after the performance.
User Shin Chua related a particularly sweet moment in a which judge asked about the couple’s motivation and the female dancer said that while some might consider it an insult to traditional ballet, they wanted to add something more and there are many people who love their take on the classical style.
“So she will dance till she can’t dance anymore. Then, her husband says, ‘as long as you are willing, my shoulder shall be your stage forever.'”
And they are some strong shoulders!
Perhaps one of the sweetest moments from the whole competition was when the couple’s son was invited out on stage.
He was a little shy to start off with but soon opened up.
He even shared a sweet picture he painted of his parents and mentioned that he – like the rest of us – is often afraid that his mother will fall during a performance and get hurt.
But the family that plays together stays together and they were all too happy to demonstrate their son’s balancing talents as well.

Another YouTube translator said that judge Tonya Young was the one to press the Golden Buzzer, saying:
“I was astonished by your performance, astonished by your love, your happiness in your family astonished me, and the ‘never give up’ spirit in pursuing your dream has astonished me too. So, today, I must…” [press]
As with all versions of the show, the Golden Buzzer brings down a rainstorm of confetti and wild celebration among the audience.
And the audience couldn’t get enough of this sweet and talented family.
They received a long standing ovation before exiting the stage to prepare for the semi-finals.
