A Russian news segment has gone viral in the last few days, thanks to the appearance of a guest that perhaps wanted to let the world know what’s going on in the canine kingdom.

The broadcast starts off normally, with a recap of the previous story being provided by Ilona Linarte of Russian news station Mir24.

Things are going fine when she’s bumped from behind by a black mass that very quickly barks to announce its arrival.

Soon, the dog pops its head up and down quickly like a jack-in-the-box. This startles Ilona, who asks in Russian, “What is this dog doing in the studio?”

Since the dog already popped up, it decides to hang around and report on all the dog news going on in the world. Linarte laughs at the situation as the report goes off air.

Later on, in an official statement released by Mir24, they said the dog was part of another segment earlier in the broadcast and somehow got loose in the studio.

Unfortunately, the dog’s time in the spotlight might be over, as newscaster Linarte says at the end of the clip she, “…actually prefers cats. I’m a cat lady.”
