Tiny homes are becoming more and more popular. People all over, are wising up to the burden that having too many belongings brings. This 77-year-old woman decided to get rid of over half of her things, to move to a tiny house that she had custom-built. She gives us a tour of her immaculate new home, that puts a different light on down-sizing.
Penny is a 77-year-old woman who sold half of her stuff to live in the tiny home of her dreams
In this video, Penny gives us a tour of the tiny house she had built from the ground up and it’s amazing. The elderly lady got tired of having more than she needed, so she decided to do something about it.
“living in a tiny house is so much different than living in a real house and I love it because I got rid of over half of everything I owned to come here and I just think it’s great,” Penny told Tiny Home Tours.
The foyer doubles as a living room/main room
Upon entering the tiny home, the main room or ‘great room’, has everything Penny needs. She made sure to hold onto her favorite recliner that she’s had for 25-years, it sits looking out of beautiful awning windows that are perfect for the rainy weather.
The main room also has a TV, but Penny doesn’t watch television. There’s a crate that holds her dog food and also acts as a coffee table.
Regular sized kitchen
Penny loves to cook, especially baking homemade pies. That’s why she knew the kitchen would have to be bigger than most tiny house kitchens. She had the builders add extra counter space for her to roll her dough, which gives her plenty of space to comfortably bake.
She also made sure to get the biggest sink possible in a tiny home, the sink has racks right above it to hang your dishes and a beautiful window to gaze out of. There’s a full-size oven for Penny to bake, along with many electric outlets which were a must for the 77-year-old.
Next, is Penny’s full-size bathroom
There’s a gorgeous walk-in shower, along with a full-size sink and toilet. Penny has an awesome mirror in the bathroom that she actually built herself and a piece of stain glass cover the bathroom window.
Living on the coast, Penny also has an exaught fan in her bathroom that is much bigger than most. That way she can pull out the moister in the air and keep her home comfy.
Penny’s bedroom has a full-size bed with storage space underneath
In the bedroom, there’s a huge bed with a massive window directly behind it. She had the bed built just high enough to fit storage bins under it, a very smart move on her part. It also has high vaulted ceilings to make it seem more spacious and for more storage shelves
Inside the tiny home is beautiful all-natural pine
The whole inside was constructed with all-natural pine, except for the bathroom which is the more absorbent cedar. Decorative wood beams stretch across the ceiling for some extra flare.
There is also a guest loft with a bed and doggy treadmill
Last but not least, is a stairway that leads up to a nice-sized loft. Penny has a treadmill for her pooch in the loft, a way for her dog to get all the exercise it needs. Last we heard, Penny was actually selling this tiny home in order to find one without a loft. This is because her disabilities make it too hard to get up and down the stairs.
What an amazing tiny house, I’m sure Penny will have no problem selling the beauty. To see it for yourself, watch the video below!
