Although thereโs plenty of music in the world, some songs are just a little more iconic than the rest.
Whether itโs a song that freezes in our tracks, takes us back to a specific moment in our lives or forces us to sing along, all of them are tunes that help us define our lives. If youโve ever been in a bar around closing time and someone put on โSweet Caroline,โ you know exactly what weโre talking about. As it turns out, there was a recent audition on The Voice Kids UK that fit perfectly in this category.
And it was performed by an adorable little boy named Shaney-Lee.
Although heโs only seven years old, Shaney-Lee definitely has his own style and is just as polished as any adult performer.
As he explains in his backstory, Shaney-Lee lives on a farm with plenty of animals. As such, he considers himself something of a country boy. It was for all those reasons that he decided to perform โTake Me Home, Country Roadsโ by John Denver.
As he steps out on stage, the crowd can barely believe what they see. Still, because itโs The Voice, itโs a blind audition and the judges canโt see whatโs going on.
After a moment, he starts singing and the crowd applauds.
Although heโs only seven years old, itโs clear that Shaney-Lee has a lot of potential.
Despite being so young, he already has a good grasp of the warble and the warmth in the delivery of some of the best country singers.
After hearing him sing, itโs clear that his heartfelt performance is warming the whole audienceโs heart. As the camera cuts away to his family on the side of the stage, everyone can see that they have tears in their eyes!
Just as the song is ending, judge Pixie Lott smashes her buzzer!
When they all turn around to see little Shaney-Lee, everyone is taken by surprise.
Although itโs a show for kids, nobody expected to see such a little guy standing there in such a sharp suit! As he explains to everyone, he loves country music and recently saw Penny Rogers in concert. Because heโs so adorable, nearly everyone in the crowd is audibly reacting to everything he says! After a moment, judge will.i.am asks him if heโs ever ridden on a horse before. โI rode here on my horse today,โ Shaney-Lee replies.
At this, everyone loses their mind!
Nobody can believe that Shaney-Lee actually has a little pony tied up outside the show!
Although there have been plenty of great performances on The Voice over the years, Shaney-Leeโs was particularly adorable. While The Voice Kids series is a different show than the rest in that it serves mostly to showcase potential talents, even among that group of contestants, Shaney-Leeโs style and approach definitely stood out.
While so much of pop music and culture asks people to look and perform a certain way, Shaney-Leeโs confidence in his country-inspired style is definitely something to admire.
