Four boys from Detroit Michigan were being good samaritans and helping their neighbor move. On their walk past one of the uninhabited homes on the street, they found a disturbing scene.
They found a dog tied up to a fence, abandoned, and starving. the four boys were horrified by the scene and jump into action to rescue the poor pup.
They released her and decided to bring her home. What did they feed her? Bologna! Who doesn’t love a good bologna sandwich right?
The poor thing looked like she was really hungry, so I’m sure she would have accepted anything at that point, but bologna must have really hit the spot!
She was meek and timid at first. She had clearly endured some hardship and been owned by someone who didn’t care much about her.
I’ve never understood how anyone could be so heartless. Dogs do nothing but give love! If you can’t care for a pet, you shouldn’t have one. It seems simple.
Maybe it was the bologna that earned her trust, but she warmed up to the boys eventually when she realized they were there to care for her.
The four boys, Andrew, Kenneth, Kenny, and Kevin. named their new furry friend Sparkles. An amazing choice if you ask me.
They fed her, played with her, and gave her some much needed love.
When it came time, they called in some professionals. A local non-profit organization, The Detroit Pit Crew Rescue, came to pick Sparkles up and take her to safety.
I’m sure the boys wanted to keep her, but calling the rescue team was the right thing to do.
They thanked the boys for going out of their way and taking the initiative to save this dog. The boys just wanted to make sure that Sparkles would be well loved, and she surely was, thanks to the crew.
Sparkles was transferred to a loving foster mom and monitored by the The Detroit Rescue Crew.
The Detroit Pit Crew posted some adorable photos of Sparkles to their Facebook page, seeking a family to adopt her permanently.

She was, of course, soon adopted by a loving family and made a full recovery after her poor treatment.
If no one else adopted her, I would have! Just look at that face!
Those four boys probably didn’t realize what immense impact that would have on Sparkles that day.
It just goes to show that a big heart can go a long way, and there’s never any gain in turning a blind eye.
I’m sure Andrew, Kenneth, Kenny, and Kevin will go on to do more amazing things, and will cherish their time with Sparkles for the rest of their lives! What amazing young men.
Small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others!
Thank goodness these boys found this dog and brought him to safety.
