Christmas is full of whimsical wonder for a child. I mean, whatโs not to love about decorating the Christmas tree and opening presents from Santa Claus on Christmas morning?
Itโs a delightful time of the year that always holds a place in our hearts, even as we grow older.
But thereโs something so enchanting about leaving cookies out for Santa and his reindeer the night before Christmas when youโre a kid. Iโm pretty sure every child has woken up in the middle of the night trying to catch a glimpse of good old Saint Nick. Most of us never lucked out meeting the big man in the red suit.
But a little girl from West Virginia caught Santa in broad daylight!
3-year-old Sophie Jo Riley was following her father around the local Walmart when she saw something so magical she could hardly believe it. As little Sophie was wandering through the isles she spotted Santa Claus himself.
Thatโs right he left the North Pole to go shopping at Walmart in West Virginiaโฆ or at least thatโs what Sophie believed.
He was just a kind-hearted stranger with a white beard and bright red shirt. The Santa look-a-like was none other than a man named Roger Larck who was happy to play the role of Santa for sweet Sophie.
The darling interaction was recorded by Sophie Joโs big sister and itโs something you wonโt want to miss.
Little Sophie proudly pranced right up to โSantaโ and asked him what he got her for Christmas.
Sophieโs sister Miya Lupashunski told WSAZ,
โShe was just sneaking around the aisle, had her back against the toys, We were behind her, and sheโd put her finger up to her lips and go โShh! Itโs Santa!โ โ
โSantaโ who we know as Roger Larck saw how excited she was to talk to him and couldnโt help but pretend to be Santa Claus.
Roger got down on his knee and chatted with Little Sophie. Most kids would be so shy to talk to someone new but Sophie was as confident as can be. She even showed off her dazzling nails to Santa, which he adored.
He asked Sophie if sheโs getting ready for Christmas which she nodded excitedly.
Little Sophie even told Santa about all the cookies sheโs leaving for him the night before Christmas! But she made sure to tell him to share the cookies with Rudolph and all of his reindeer friends.
Roger AKA โSantaโ was so happy to share such a special interaction with little Sophie.
Thatโs a memory sheโll never forget. After watching this adorable video Iโm almost convinced Roger just might be the real Santa Claus. Roger told WSAZ,
โIโm tickled Iโve been a part of something that other people have enjoyed, it was just me having a conversation with a little girl. It melted my heart when it happened.โ
Other people might have just smiled and walked right by little Sophie.
But Roger paused his shopping trip and to make sure Sophie could have the greatest Christmas ever!
Itโs so amazing to know there are such kind-hearted people in this world and Roger AKA โSantaโ is definitely one of them.
