The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards solicit unexpectedly funny animal photos in the name of conservation. They’re usually shots captured at just the right time to make an animal seem to be doing something out of the ordinary.
According to their Facebook page:
“We want to spread a message of wildlife conservation, using a positive, reinforcing medium – that of humor. Each year we support a different charity, working with the same values as us – and this year it is the Gunung Palung Orangutan Project.”
It’s a noble project that also makes us laugh – what more could you want?
Here are 15 of the most hilarious photos we saw on the site:
1. Dramaroo
It looks like this little guy is practicing his Shakespeare. We’d watch a kangaroo version of Hamlet!
2. Kermit cracking a smile
A smiling frog? Well, it sure looks like it if you catch them at the right time.
3.Under the sea
This looks like a cast member from the live-action The Little Mermaid film.
We normally don’t think of fish as having facial expressions.
4. Surf’s up
They don’t make surf boards for penguins, so this one had to do without.
He looks better than we do though!
5. Around the water cooler
Look at this pair of gossips. They might as well be talking about what one of their coworkers is wearing.
6. Domestic disagreement
Well, someone’s in a bad mood. But from the look on his face, he seems to know exactly what he did wrong.
And we don’t think he’s ever going to do it again.
7. Read all about it
We wonder if he’s looking at the sports page, the comics, or world affairs.

8. Whoops, you missed
This would be the perfect shot for a DEmotivational poster.
Well, unless you’re the salmon.

Oh, boy, do we feel you, buddy.
Sometimes, you fall on your face. And sometimes, it’s better to just take a nap right there instead of getting right back up.
10. Contagious laughter
You know what they say – laugh and the world laughs with you.
We can’t stop laughing at this guy!

There’s nothing like a feathered slap in the face to show you you’ve done something wrong.

Oh, c’mon, man! He let you land on his head and THAT’S how you repay him?
Harsh.

Can any group take a photo with everyone looking normal? No. And it’s not just a human problem.

We’re not sure who won this, but they’re definitely trying to show one another who’s boss.
15. I’m sinking!
What a shot! We’re sure the squirrel is fine, just dramatic.
