Young Tap Dance Prodigy Lights Up the Stage

As a parent, when you see that your child has a special talent, you would do everything you can to support and help nurture this talent.

While most of us love to dance, not everyone is familiar with tap dancing. Tap dance is one of the most treasured styles of dancing in which the dancer wears special shoes fitted with a heel and toe “taps” that makes a sound. These sounds become audible beats when the wearer rhythmically strikes the floor or any other hard surface thus the tap dance is created.

Meet this boy who has captured the hearts of many as he went viral at the age of 6 when he and his well-known teacher danced at the DC Tap Festival last 2011. This young man is Luke Spring, he was just 6 years old when this viral video was taken and as you can see, he was even able to flawlessly mirror his teacher’s moves.

It was the perfect tandem! A match made in heaven as Justin M. Lewis took Luke under his wing and promised to teach him what he knows. Justin’s style as a mentor is a mix of classic tap and contemporary that includes more ‘new age’ of music. This is what makes Justin’s method of teaching appealing to students of all ages.

In an interview in The Washington Post, Justin M. Lewis remembers what he thought of Luke.

“How do I teach a prodigy and make him better than he already is? That has been an age-old question,”

said Justin as he tells how he has been teaching Luke since 2009.

The viral video clearly shows how both teacher and student loves tap dancing. Both of them were smiling as they showed off their talent, making any parent proud of this young prodigy.

It was an effortless dance, they are both enjoying what they were doing, both smiling and hyped up with the beat and the rhythm. Justin knew that his student, Luke will definitely exceed his expectations.

As their dance captured the hearts of many including renowned TV Host Ellen DeGeneres, both Justin and Luke have started to capture the world with their dance tandem. People absolutely loved how Justin was sweet enough to mold Luke to a better dancer and they also adore Luke for his passion at such a young age.

Any parent would definitely be delighted!

Today, Luke is already 15 years old and this young handsome man didn’t stop dancing. He is still on his journey to achieving his dreams. In fact, he is unquestionably better than ever. Seeing him with his performances in NYCDA will definitely make any mentor proud.
