This can be either for the good and the bad. If either of those two scenarios happens to you, it all depends on how you deal with the aftermath. For some, when good things turn bad, it easily discourages them, and they would want to quit.
But hereโs a story that would remind each of us that life has its way of telling us our story is far from over.

Ronnie met a great tragedy in his life when he was just eight years old.

His father murdered his mother and 9-year-old sister while he was stabbed, beaten up, and obtained burns because his father burned down their house.
If you think about it, it was a horrible thing to happen to a young boy.

Corporal Mike Blair was on duty when they rescued Ronnie from the scene. A few weeks later, he visited him in the hospital to check up on him when Ronnie woke up, held his hand, and made a simple request. Ronnie asked if he could stay and watch a movie with him.
Unfortunately, Corporal Mike had to turn it down.

He was on duty that day and needed to report back to work. But he didnโt leave without giving an assurance to the little boy. As a backup plan, he told Ronnie that he would come back later that night and watch a movie with him.
Ronnie was pleased with the plan and went back to sleep.

However, Mikeโs problem now is how to break it to his wife, Danielle, that date night would be different this time. He called and told her about this boy they rescued and promised to join him for a movie that night. Luckily, she agreed to it.
That night when they visited Ronnie in the hospital as promised, they knew they would love to take him in.

Once Ronnie was discharged, the hospital asked if he had any close relatives for him to stay with. Mike knew there wasnโt any, so he told them heโd take him in.
But it wasnโt until five months later until they because Ronnieโs legal family.

When they found out they were about to lose their guardianship over Ronnie, they knew it was their calling to give this boy a fighting chance at life.
After that day, the rest is history.

Ronnie is aware of his past and would never forget his mom and sister. Despite the awful things that happened in the past, he has fond memories of them that he intends to keep. For Ronnie, being with the Blairs is a new life that he is thankful for.
His new family also instilled in him a mantra they want him to live by.
โI am safe. I am loved. And Iโm a part of this family.โ
For someone whoโs been through a lot at such a young age, this mantra is something that Ronnie can count on his new family.
