Ronan Parke is one of those singers that just gets it — he’s a true natural talent. Ever since his first Britain’s Got Talent audition, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that he was going to end up being one of the top performers. Round by round, Ronan won the hearts and minds of fans and judges alike as he continued along on his journey to the top.
Going into the live final rounds, everyone was super excited to see if the young singer would deliver on expectations or if he would crash and burn.
Then came his crazy song choice…
Ronan chose to sing Kelly Clarkson’s “Because Of You”, which on the surface seemed like kind of a risky move.
After all, Ronan was only 12 years old at the time, and by choosing a Kelly Clarkson song, he had some big boots to fill. She has such an incredible voice, and it was clear to everyone that if Ronan was to stand a chance, he was going to have to knock the performance out of the park. Yet, despite the risk, all of his fans had complete faith in him.
With the whole world watching, Ronan nervously stepped to the stage, but as soon as he started singing, he instantly fell into his groove. Ronan belted out the lyrics of the emotional song with an incredible passion that we’re sure made Kelly Clarkson proud. Saying he did the song justice would be an understatement.
He was also joined on stage by a group of about twenty background singers who accompanied him during the chorus.
It added a very nice touch.
Ronan has such a powerful voice, and really, every single verse of the song was delivered flawlessly.
Though, even with all the activity going on around him, throughout the entire performance, Ronan did not move once from his position in the middle of the stage. The young star largely let his voice do all the talking.
However, it turned out to be more than enough for the judges.
No fancy showmanship was necessary.
“I think it was perfect. I’m such a great fan of yours that I felt nervous when you walked on and was so hoping that you would do well,” said Michael McIntyre.
“Then I was put at ease, literally, with the first note, and it was perfection from then on.”
McIntyre also added that he really enjoyed the song choice.
It was a great way for Ronan to show off just how much strength he had in his voice.
Other judges were just as impressed.
“From the moment that we set eyes on you during that audition, I knew that there was a magic about you,” said Amanda Holden.
“Your composure, the strength of your voice, and just the fact that you are a gorgeous gorgeous boy. You are a credit to your parents and to this show. Congratulations!”
All around, judges had nothing but amazing things to say about the 12-year-old wonder.
Ultimately though, it wasn’t enough to win him the series.
Ronan finished in 2nd place overall — runner-up to singer Jai McDowall who just barely pulled out ahead.
We think that second place on a national talent competition is still pretty incredible for such a young guy though. With so many years ahead of him to work on his voice, we are certain that one day, Ronan will absolutely be back for more.
