There is almost nothing more entertaining than watching reality competition shows. Everyone loves to root for an underdog!

Whether it is singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or all of the above, competition shows are amazing. That is why there are so many of them on every channel! It feels like when one ends, there are two more starting right away.

The X-Factor UK was created in 2004 by American Idol judge Simon Cowell. Ever since then, it has spurned numerous successful acts, like One Direction and Little Mix. The show’s U.S. spinoff show gave us Fifth Harmony.

The X Factor UK has five stages: producers’ auditions, judges’ auditions, Bootcamp, judges’ houses, and the live shows.

This sets the series apart from many other reality competitions, as many other shows virtually skip from auditions to live performances. Simon Cowell really knows how to narrow down his successful acts!

The shows 14th season is currently on the air on ITV and the competition is really starting to heat up! This cover song is what makes watching these shows so entertaining.

One of the contestants, Kevin Davy, took a “brave” choice for this live show. Many of the judges made sure to point out to him. But you need to be brave to stand out! No one is going to remember an ordinary performance of a song.

The singer, who is being mentored by Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, decided to sing Whitney Houston’s greatest song of all time, “I Will Always Love You.”

To make his performance unique, Kevin put his own spin on the song. If you listen to him sing and you aren’t paying attention to the lyrics, you honestly wouldn’t even recognize the song!

Kevin’s voice is almost haunting when singing the classic Whitney Houston (slash Dolly Parton) song. But not everyone was a fan of the performance!

“Everybody here adores you, and you took a huge risk with that song,” judge Sharon Osbourne told Kevin. “It was good, I don’t think it was your best, but we love you,” Sharon said.

Only his mentor, Nicole, had anything positive to say about the performance. The other three judges, including Simon, all felt it wasn’t Kevin’s best. But if you listen to this song, you have to agree that the judges are crazy, right?
