I’ve yet to hear a story about a normal Tinder date going well. But I’ve heard plenty horror stories about Tinder dates going terribly wrong.
But the story of artist, performer, and writer Michelle Turner’s Tinder date really takes the cake.
The funny thing is that her date seemed to have gone well. They met at a bar, had some drinks, then they left for a restaurant where he bought her dinner. They shared a kiss and left off on a pleasant note.
The next day is when things took a delusional turn for the worst.
Instead of just not reaching out again or declining a second date, this weirdo decided to placate his ego and obviously low sense of self by pretending that Michelle was waiting on him with baited breath until he made his next move, which she totally wasn’t.”
He explained to her that he just adores her, well every part of her except her “figure.
He then goes on and on creating all these delusional scenarios about how they could be together if it only wasn’t for her weight.
Everything is put so politely but it’s really just one long insulting rant by someone who has nothing better to do than being cruel to someone else in order to feel good about himself.
Michelle had the best response to her Tinder date’s ridiculous text.
“It’s nothing short of sadistic. Your tone is saccharine and condescending, but the forensic detail in which you express your disgust at my body is truly grotesque,” Michelle said in her response. “The only possible objective for writing it is to wound me.”
He obviously knew what she looked like beforehand from pictures online and Michelle felt that she could have been intentionally targeted.
“I like to think I come across as a confident, happy woman. But could this be the very reason you have targeted me? Did you see me and think ‘She has far too high an opinion of herself, she needs bringing down a peg or two?'” she wondered. “I have to ask – we all know the internet is a dangerous place to be a woman with opinions (I discovered this first hand when I ventured a response to those obnoxious bloody adverts).”
Michelle did have a major concern and reason behind going out of her way to respond to her Tinder date.
She wanted to warn him about how his dangerous thought process and treatment of women could affect is own daughter.
“I want you to encourage your daughter to love, enjoy, and care for her body. It belongs to her and only her. Praise her intellect and her creativity. Push her to push herself and to be fearless,” Michelle wrote. “Give her the tools to develop a bomb-proof sense of self-esteem so that if (I’ll be kind. I’ll say “if”.) the time comes that a small, unhappy man attempts to corrode it, she can respond as I do now.”
Boom. Sometimes you just have to put someone in their place and Michelle certainly did in this case.
