Driving sometimes feels like the ultimate freedom when you’re out on the open road.
But most of us don’t get to drive without others around – at least not exclusively. So imagine a bunch of entitled people surrounded by tons of steel. Imagine them tending to pets, text messages, eating dinner(!), and just carrying on as if they can live their life while they just incidentally happen to be driving a car.
A recipe for disaster, right? Right.
We all have a responsibility to one another on the road – and everyone just wants to get home safely.
Here are 46 people who make that A LOT harder.
1. Unlicensed driver
Who said that all bad drivers are humans? In this case, it’s a dog. Let’s hope he’s sitting on his owner’s lap. Otherwise, everyone needs to move out of the way…quickly. (And no, this isn’t in England.)
2. Big time fail
Ok, so they’re not in the seat, but doesn’t it look as if that’s been sat ON? Sorry, dude, but that’s not going to help one bit if you’re in an accident.
3. No more spaghetti
Here’s a little piece of advice. Don’t eat spaghetti while driving. It turns out if you cause a wreck, the evidence will be all over.
4. Stay in your lane!
It’s common for people to get into the wrong lane. But when there’s an image of a bicyclist, it means something. Just because you have a small car doesn’t give you the right to use the bike lane.
I guess Prius drivers aren’t anything special since there’s a whole Instagram page dedicated to their crappy driving.
5. Junk in the trunk
Hey, it’s awesome when people repurpose things like pallets. But this wasn’t a good idea on any level. Rather, it’s a disaster waiting to happen.
6. Just chilling
Excuse me, who’s working the pedals? Sure, this guy can press the gas. But what happens if he needs to brake, especially if he needs to stop quickly?
7. Snow day
The rain might be gone but what about the snow? With this vehicle covered, there’s no way this driver can see anything. Perhaps they’ve never heard of a defroster or ice scraper.
8. Do you laugh or honk
Clearly, the driver on the left doesn’t have a clue what they’re doing. There they sit at a red light on the wrong side of a double yellow line. Maybe they want to race the other driver or perhaps they’re just a really bad driver. We’re leaning toward the second option.
9. Pay for the darn delivery
So, what do you do when you have a hot date but no clean clothes? Well, this person thought it was a good idea to buy a new washing machine. Perhaps a trip to the laundromat would’ve been a better, and safer, option.
10. What’s with all the appliances?
Look, if you need a refrigerator, it’s worth spending a little extra money to have one delivered. Apparently, this person disagreed. Who cares if it falls out and hits the car behind it, right?
11. Read between the lines…
…or in this case, park. Can someone please explain how this person got it so wrong? It’s not as though the bright yellow stripes are hard to see.
12. No shortcut
That’s what happens when you try to take a shortcut. This guy’s car is all messed up. But maybe not as messed up as it will be when the crew that poured the concrete gets their hands on it.
13. Thanks for the heads up
Some signs are perfectly fine such as “Baby on Board.” But something like this? Not so much. You kind of feel sorry for the people in the front who don’t get the same luxury of receiving a warning.
Then again, it’s hard to believe this is true, so maybe it’s just a clever way to keep people off your back.
14. Natural ability
That big object covering the windshield isn’t a problem for this driver. After all, he’s had his license for years. So, he’s relying on his instincts.
15. Not again
What on earth was this person thinking? Obviously, nothing. Hopefully, this ended up being one of those police karma videos on YouTube.
16. Moving day
This person must’ve wanted to save a few bucks so they bypassed renting a trailer. But in the end, they might regret that decision depending on how much damage the car sustains.
17. Disaster in 3, 2, 1
Even a slight shift of the load will give this truck driver and the people around him a rude awakening. Wherever this photo was taken, it’s clear there aren’t any safety guidelines being enforced. It’s more like cross your fingers and hope for the best.
18. Entitlement 101
What’s that saying, “If I fits – I sits?” Well, this driver thought it also applied to his parking. This is what you call entitlement.
19. Portable house
Who needs an RV or trailer when they’ve got this? Their entire house is on the back of a pickup truck. That might be convenient for them but it doesn’t give other drivers on the road much peace of mind. We have just one question…how much gas mileage do they get?
20. Holding your breath
That’s probably what you’d be doing if you saw this in front of you. Forget about being in the wrong lane. This driver isn’t even on their side of the road.
21. How does this even happen?
If you look closely, you’ll see this driver wedged their car door between two vertical objects. How in the world did they do that? And what are they going to do to fix it?
22. Bumpy ride
You’d think with only three wheels, this driver would’ve noticed something was off. You know, like a really bumpy ride. Or perhaps the sparks flying everywhere.
23. Nice landing
Well, that’s impressive. Impressively dumb. You really have to be involved in something dangerous to go airborne and land like this.
24. Just an ordinary day
How does this person not notice the noise? Or the tug when they drove away? Actually, we don’t want to know because the answer is likely just one more reason they shouldn’t be allowed on the road.
25. One is not like the others
And no, we’re not referring to the semi-truck. But rather, the white car. The driver thinks they’re on a four-lane road instead of one with only three lanes.
26. That’s not gonna buff right out
When your vehicle gets dirty, you head to the nearest car wash. That’s what this driver did. But what did we say about taking shortcuts? It’s never a good idea.
27. Go big or go home
We all get distracted, but you really need to disengage the gas pump from your car before you drive away. As you can see, there’s a good reason for that.
28. Loose marbles…
…or in this instance, more like loose golf balls. If someone isn’t smart enough to open the trunk to investigate a noise, they have no business being on the road. This is downright ridiculous.
29. Break much?
It seems as though this person thought they were supposed to do something spectacular to get a “heads up” response. Well, they did. We suggest the salon owner change the name of their business.
30. Rigged for disaster
There are lots of different reasons this isn’t legal. Even though we understand folks need to get from Point A to Point B after something bad happens to their car, safety is the first priority. And this is anything but safe.
31. Bad decision
For anyone who thinks they can drive on a bike path instead of the road, think again. This is what happens. Those lanes aren’t designed to carry the weight of a vehicle.
32. Shameful
If there’s one place where every driver needs to be extra cautious, it’s in a school zone. The 25-mph speed limit is to ensure the safety of children. This driver was going so fast they flipped their car.
33. Not a solution
A driver should never use a bungee cord to extend the length of their seatbelt. Look, a lot of larger people drive. Just an FYI, they sell actual extenders for those individuals.
34. No distractions here
Selfish? Stupid? There needs to be a harsher word for someone who has the nerve to eat, chat on the phone, and try to drive at the same time.
35. Not a hauling vehicle
If you can afford the convertible, you can afford to have it delivered. Hopefully, this photo went right to the local police.
36. Look what I can do
Just…how?! When they haul the car away, we hope they take this person’s key and license as well.
37. Innovative danger
When it comes to innovative driving, that usually entails doing something amazing, like developing a way to make a vehicle more fuel-efficient. Well, this driver went in a completely different direction. They devised a method that increases the risk of an accident while driving. It’s like the vehicle is skateboarding – but not in the cool way.
38. Monster…van?
If you can figure out the motive behind this one out you get extra points.
39. Everyone out of the pool
How they ended up there, we’ll never know. But we’d be pretty mad if we were the pool cleaners.
40. On the brink
If that’s not a disaster waiting to happen, we don’t know what is. One bump in the road and those cinder blocks at the very back hit the road. Sometimes, there are no words for the dangers people pose to others.
41. Lesson learned
As part of driving, people have to pay close attention to the road. But they also need to pay attention to other things, like areas that are blocked off. This guy learned a hard lesson…never park where a crew is pouring concrete, especially when there’s bright orange tape to keep drivers out.
42. Is that Photoshopped?
The answer…no, it’s not. That’s a real car that went airborne and crashed into the second story of a house. We don’t know how it happened, but it only looks cool until you realize how many people probably got hurt.
43. Airhead
Is this person seriously hauling an AIR MATTRESS on top of their car instead of deflating it? Just a heads up – light items are a lot harder to keep in place than heavy ones.
44. Scrap collector
This is a photo of the back of someone’s pick-up truck taken by the driver behind them. There’s nothing wrong with collecting scrap. In fact, it’s a great way to make extra money. But for anyone interested in this…rent a large truck or make multiple trips. Driving around like this puts too many lives in danger.
45. Is there a peephole?
This is unnerving. We actually feel for the people driving here – but you really need to shut the hood and not drive so fast that it flips up on your windshield. Seeing something like this warrants a call to 911.
