This caliber of athletes makes more than the average American citizen, but this amount of money can inspire huge changes โ€“ especially when someone decides to donate to a noble cause. This world class athlete is proof of the good that can come from giving to charity.

Manny Pacquiao is a world championship boxer who was born in the Sarangani Province of the Philippines. Like many boxers, he had an impressive income during his career. These athletes are rewarded with great financial perks even if they do not win their matches.

During the so-called โ€œFight of the Centuryโ€ between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., Pacquiao made over $100 million, even though he lost the fight. Fortunately for the world, the professional boxer decided to put his earnings to good use.

The man currently serves as Senator of the Philippines, so he is clearly invested in the future of his people. But he is doing more to help his citizens than simply reviewing laws โ€“ he is taking real action to change the lives of individuals in his country.

Pacquiao is building 1000 homes for families in need in his home town. In doing so, he hopes to relieve some of the destruction the country has faced.

โ€œIโ€™m so happy giving these houses free to my constituents in the Sarangani Province from my own pocket,โ€ the Senator posted to Facebook. โ€œMore than 1000 families are the beneficiaries.โ€

This is certainly an immense undertaking, but it is one that will have a monumental impact on the families of the Philippines. This athlete and politician is proving that he cares about his community and is willing to do whatever he can to make it a better place for all its citizens.

The professional boxer was born into poverty and struggled to find the success that he currently enjoys. Now that he has overcome his situation, he feels it is only right to give back to the people who helped him build his foundation.
