What do you think about how he responded?

The sacrifices our brave men and women of the military make in order to protect our rights and our freedom is often indescribable. As we all know, many stores, restaurants, and establishments offer a military discount to (former) members of any type of military service, as a small “thank you” and a token of appreciation. After all, it’s the least we can do for those who risk their lives to fight for our freedom.

Unfortunately, some people just don’t appreciate the sacrifices our brave troops make.

A young veteran was ready to order in a fast-food restaurant chain when he asked if they offered a military discount for his meal.

Before the employee of the restaurant could even respond, a woman that was standing in line overheard the conversation and decided to jump in.

“Wow, that is so rude,” she says.

The former soldier then frowned his eyes and asked why the woman felt offended.

“All of you think you’re entitled because you’re in the military and you deserve all these special privileges.”

The veteran immediately had a perfect response ready for the woman.

“It’s not a privilege, it’s a discount,” he said. “A privilege is getting to go home. To go home to your family every night. To go home in a free country. Some people give up their privileges so that people like you can have them. I’m really sorry if I offended you.”

This young man respectfully responded in an epic manner.

The rude woman then simply left the restaurant, but someone else standing in line decided to pay for the veteran’s meal entirely.

After the manager of the fast-food chain heard about the incident that just happened, the vet didn’t even have to pay at all.

Someone posted the footage of this altercation online and it quickly went viral.

“The way I see it is if these people didn’t “choose that life”, then the country would just draft their soldiers. So, to the ones saying that soldiers/veterans “shouldn’t be entitled” to discounts (etc) should [shut up], because they (people in military) volunteered their lives so you wouldn’t have to,” commenter Blake Vise wrote.

Liam Rath, a member of the military himself, also wanted to share his thoughts.

“Being in the military I don’t believe I’m entitled to any special treatment it was my choice but people show their appreciation in different ways and I’m happy to accept that I’m proud to serve my country and it gives me more pride knowing that people respect me for it.”

It’s a shame to see that some veterans are treated like this, as they deserve our utmost respect and admiration for their service.
