When you think of car thieves, you don’t picture them trying to steal your car when you’re standing right next to it. Usually, it happens when you aren’t there to react, but there are some brazen criminals out there that don’t care if you’re present and will carjack you in broad daylight. This woman wasn’t having it, she bravely jumped onto the hood of her car and ended up in a standoff with the thief that was trying to steal her car.
Holy cow, I can’t believe she just did that!

Melissa Smith, was 28-years-old when a bold car thief tried to take her Subaru in broad daylight. The fearless lady lept onto the hood of the car and sent the criminals’ running scared
It was just another normal day in Milwaukie when Melissa stopped to fill up the tank in her Subaru Outback. You can see her on camera minding her own business and going about her routine, then something insane happens.

It starts with a suspicious car pulling up right in front of hers, she doesn’t think twice about it because let’s face it, no one expects someone to try to steal their car from right under their nose.
As soon as the black Cadillac pulls up, a man gets out and sneaks around trying not to be seen as he gets ready to steal her car

Melissa see’s him get into her Subaru and begin trying to start it, without thinking she jumps onto the car hanging on by gripping the windshield wipers. He even tries to jolt the car to throw her off of the hood, but she isn’t going anywhere and the fact that he was laughing just made her angrier.

Inside Edition asked her if she was “terrified at all”, her response:
“Not really, for whatever reason, I was not going to have that.” She went on to say: “He was laughing at me, which really didn’t sit well with me!”

Finally, the car thief cut his losses and ran off, but the danger didn’t end there! The car was in drive and going into a busy intersection
Even after the thieves fled the scene, Melissa wasn’t out of the woods yet. He had left the car in gear so it was rolling into an intersection, so the brave women actually chased it down diving into the driver seat to stop it.

“I had the fun task of hopping in my car to stop it before it hit traffic. He did get my purse, my iPhone, and my wallet and various items that were in there.” Mellisa told Inside Edition.

Melissa’s father and then-fiance were both not happy that she jumped on the car to stop the carjacking but at least she ended up okay
A lot of people will wonder what she was thinking, but I get it and Melissa wasn’t going to be a victim that day!
“I know my car is just a material item. Obviously, that was not what was going through my mind at the time, but I was not going to let that happen,” said Melissa.

What a brave lady, kudos to Melissa for having no fear in that situation. To see the attempted carjacking, watch the video below!
