Usually, when we’re scared of animals, it is because they are big or aggressive… Or both. In this case though, this woman was scared because this lamb was so tiny!

“He really didn’t look real. He looked like a stuffed animal, he looked like a plush toy. I think he weighed like 2 pounds, and that’s so tiny for a little lamb,” Caitlin Cimini, Founder of Rancho Relaxo told The Dodo.

Cimini went on to explain that the lamb, named Flick, had brothers and siblings who were far bigger than him.

His size genuinely scared her and she did not know what to expect, however, she soon realized that it would be okay. Flick proved her wrong.

Flick had it tough — he was often bullied by his siblings because he was half their size.

“The farmer called us and said that he had a sheep who had triplets and one of the three babies was getting rejected,” Cimini explained. “This little runt was getting weaker by the hour.”

Flick’s two siblings were kicking him down more and more, all while his mother just did not have enough to give him. He was suffering in his family, which is absolutely heartbreaking. The little lamb needed to be in a healthy environment where he could get all of the proper love and care that he so desperately needed.

The good news that while Flick was weak, he was determined. He was a well-behaved lamb who was very much worthy of love who luckily found a family who immediately welcomed him with open arms.

His family wanted Flick to feel like he was part of a flock — they fed him, played with him, and gave him all of the attention in the world. They wanted him to feel like he had a family after he had suffered so much in the past.

“It was a roller coaster with him. The first two weeks were hard,” Cimini went on to say. “Then he got very strong, then I was worried again, because he kept running a fever.”

“I knew if we just gave him extra love and attention he would have more motivation to fight to live,” Cimini said.

She continued, “At like four-ish weeks old, he started to ram into our legs, like, hard. And I was like, ‘Oh, he’s fine.’ As a newborn, he didn’t have much of a personality. Once he started to realize we were his family, that’s kind of when he showed his true colors. He’s so strange.”

“You tell me he’s not one of the weirdest creatures you’ve ever come in contact with.”

Rancho Relaxo is helping save animals’ lives, and you can actually help them with that. By supporting Cimini’s company, you are helping sponsor Flick’s ongoing care. Find more information on that here.

We love everything Cimini is doing to better the lives of animals who may not have been dealt a great card in life. It is also amazing to watch Flick grow and find himself — even if he is one weird little rascal!
