No bride wants to ever go through what this bride did on their wedding day.

It is secretly every woman’s worst nightmare to find their fiancé cheating right before the wedding day. Unfortunately, in some cases, it does happen. But how you handle it can either make it a terrible or empowering situation.

Names were changed when the woman spoke to Whimn about what happened. So this is a story about Casey and Alex.

The two were engaged and preparing for what would be the beautiful next chapter in their lives. That is, until Casey found out that Alex had been cheating on her through a slew of text message exchanges.

Casey and her best gal pals were hanging out and letting loose in a hotel room on the night before the big day when Casey’s phone began to buzz. It wasn’t just one text or one phone call, but a string of texts.

It was so noticeable, one of the bridesmaids even cracked a joke about how Casey’s phone was “running hot.”

Several texts from an unknown number appeared on her phone. They contained screenshots of text exchanges between Alex and another woman. Then the unknown person wrote: “I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?”

This mystery woman seemed to be all over Alex’s life. They had so many interactions together. And Casey had no idea who she was.

Along with some text conversations also came selfies that the pair took together. And some of the texts were, well, a little risqué.

“This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game,” one text read.

“Your body is f*cking incredible. And shit do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do,” another text said.

“I miss you so much. I can’t stop thinking about L, S, F’ing you. I’ve never had this kind of connection before.”

Yep, if you can even believe it, this man was going off about how his connection with this woman was unlike any other — definitely not like the one he had with, oh, just his future wife. No big deal.

These texts took place not only months before the wedding, but days. They were communicating up until the very moment.

“Every word like a dagger in my heart and my wedding was only hours away,” Casey said. “How could I cancel when everyone had already travelled to be there and everything was paid for?”

Casey’s friends, being the good pals they are, urged her to lose the guy immediately. But that was too easy.

The former bride came up with a devious plan for revenge, instead.

“I burst into shamed and broken tears. My girls were threatening all manner of violence against him. They insisted I call him immediately and call the wedding off,” Casey said.

The former bride was too shocked though. Understandably, she was in disbelief. She wanted to marry him and now, out of nowhere, that was all shattered. She tried to think rationally about what she could do.

“Eventually, we tried to go to bed. I didn’t sleep a wink and when dawn finally broke I awoke the girls and told them my decision — I was going to go ahead with the wedding as expected, and ‘out’ him in front of our friends and family,” she said.

There’s nothing wrong with taking the petty route when it is deserved.

“I arrived at the front of the room, took a big breath, and I faced our friends, our parents and I told them the truth about Alex.”

“There will be no wedding today, it seems Alex is not who I thought he is,” Casey said in front of her friends, family, and Alex who was in disbelief.

Then she read every single one of Alex’s texts out loud. To everyone.

“With each word, more color left Alex’s face,” Casey remembered. “I let my weeping eyes rise and meet his, and he had not one thing to say. He stalked out of the church with his best man trailing behind him. His family looked on, horrified.”

“I love all of you and as horrible as this is I’m glad you all are here,” Casey said. “There will not be a wedding reception today, but instead, there will be a celebration of honesty, finding true love and following your heart even when it hurts.”

It was savage, but at least everyone had a good time afterward.

To honesty!
