We’ve all heard the saying that you get what you give, or some variation of it, but it’s incredible to see that sentiment in action sometimes.

It’s incredible how fast it comes around, too.

This porch prowler learned her lesson.

A pair of thieves learned first-hand why they shouldn’t help themselves to other people’s packages.

The homeowner’s security camera filmed one of the criminals getting dealt an instant serving of justice right as she was about to run off with some valuable UPS packages.

It was karma in action.

The best part of the whole situation was that the criminals did it to themselves.

The video clip starts by showing the UPS truck driving around the block and pulling up to the home.

It’s a very common sight these days, especially with the explosion of online shopping.

All of the mail delivery services are busier than ever. Unfortunately, package thieves have definitely taken notice.

The UPS driver can be seen walking up to the front porch of the home, as usual, with three separate packages in hand.

It’s pretty easy for him to carry all of them balanced together. After all, it is the man’s job. He does this all day, every day.

Shortly after, he goes back to his big brown truck and drives away.

Enter the porch prowlers.

A dark blue car is waiting around the corner and instantly comes whipping up the block.

It pulls up in front of the driveway and a woman jumps out of the passenger seat.

She goes running for the packages at the doorway.

She has trouble gathering them.

Stacking them proves a challenge.

She doesn’t have the same skills as the UPS driver.

Then we’re treated to a sight.

As she is sprinting back towards the car, she drops one of the boxes, then subsequently trips on the landscaping.

It all happens in less than a second. However, as soon as she falls, it becomes very clear that she is not getting up again.

There is an audible “Ouch!”

It can be heard as she reaches for her ankle.

The security cameras are even able to show us what the fall looks like from multiple angles, and it’s not good.

She definitely broke or tore something.

That’s when her friend comes along.

The driver of the vehicle quickly realizes what’s up.

He jumps out of the car and runs over to her, struggles to pick her up, and awkwardly carries her back to the car.

He dumps her in the passenger seat.

He wasn’t leaving empty-handed.

He returned to bumblingly scoop up the dropped packages that cost his friend the use of her ankle.

They drive off, packages in hand, albeit, with one very badly damaged ankle.

There’s more to the story though.

If it wasn’t for the security footage, the criminals might have gotten away with the crime from a legal standpoint.

However, after the video went viral on social media, the suspects were caught within days.

It turns out, the security footage was recorded by homeowner David Ababneh in Bothell, Washington.

The two suspects were 37-year-old Alicia Treat and 39-year-old Brian Devere.

As for the packages… they contained over $5000 worth of prescription medications that were only partially covered by Ababneh’s insurance.

If the criminals hadn’t been captured on camera, it would have been a very lucky break for them.

However, in the end, Treat got a different kind of break — an injured ankle.

After being caught, she attended court in a wheelchair, reports K5 News.

Abadneh isn’t losing sleep with worry and sympathy, however.

In fact, he’s happy to see some natural justice.

“Gotta love Karma though, serves them right,” Ababneh told KOMO News.
