Weโ€™ve all had those moments โ€“ usually when the kids are being too loud or the neighbors are having a shouting match โ€“ where we think: โ€œThis house just isnโ€™t big enough!โ€

But if youโ€™re feeling trapped inside your homeโ€™s four walls, just wait until you see this tiny 82 square foot Tokyo homeโ€ฆ

Emma, a YouTuber who lives in the apartment, fell in love with the place after moving to Japan a few years back.

The home is so tight width-ways that you can touch both walls with your arms barely outstretched. But Emma likes that itโ€™s set on two different levels, so thereโ€™s a bit of separation between the bedroom, the bathroom and the kitchen area.

Itโ€™s typical for apartments in downtown Tokyo to be very small, and Emmaโ€™s is no exception. But its narrowness isnโ€™t too confining thanks to the apartmentโ€™s high ceilings.

Coming into the home, thereโ€™s a closet on the right and a kitchen space on the left.

The toaster oven and microwave sit on top of a storage cupboard that holds Emmaโ€™s pots, pans and cutlery.

Also in storage is Emmaโ€™s yoga mat, for if she wants to work out in her apartment. It doesnโ€™t quite fit on the available floor space, but she makes it work.

Further on is Emmaโ€™s office space, a simple setup with a chair, a table and a laptop.

She has a view outside the roomโ€™s only window, which helps to prevent her from feeling too claustrophobic.

The kitchen space is in a separate room, and has all the basic amenities Emma could need: a sink, fridge, two-stove electric burner and a kettle.

Itโ€™s typical for apartments in Japan to have kitchens with no bench space, and Emmaโ€™s is no exception.

She has to chop her foods by precariously placing her chopping board over the edge of her sink.

At the very back of the room is a tiny balcony, which Emma uses to store pot plants and hang her washing.

The tiny bathroom has a secret toilet hidden beneath the sink, which you can pull to the side when nature calls.

When she first moved into her apartment, Emma was concerned that sheโ€™d have to use a public toilet. She spent a long time looking before she discovered the nifty space-saving design feature.

A tall stepladder leads to the final space in Emmaโ€™s home: the bedroom.

The ceiling is so low that thereโ€™s no room for a bed, so Emma has a mattress on the floor.

Depending on the type of person you are, youโ€™d either find the space cute and cozy or incredibly claustrophobic.

It has no windows, and thereโ€™s no room for standing. But Emma is just happy to be able to sit up without hitting her head on the ceiling.

She says she enjoys the comforting feeling of sleeping in a smaller space โ€“ but it probably isnโ€™t for everyone!

Emmaโ€™s apartment is definitely one of the tiniest weโ€™ve ever seen.

But for Emma, she finds that it keeps her creative. She says she loves to have her own space to relax, unwind, and get into the zone of things.
