Giving birth is no easy feat regardless of the circumstances. Yet, one mom from Sydney, Australia had mouths dropping when she welcomed a 12lb 6oz son into the world โ all without any pain medication.
The joyous and record-breaking birth took place at the Blacktown Hospital, where they told the parents theyโd never had a baby quite so big. In fact, their story is so impressive that itโs been talked about across the globe.

28-year-old Nikki Bell wasnโt a first-time mom when she went into labor at 39 weeks. She did, however, have a heads up that her baby, Parker James, wouldnโt be such a โlittleโ bundle of joy.
According to The Daily Telegraph, it was estimated that Parker was already 3.5kg at Nikkiโs 24-week pregnancy appointment. Thatโs just over 7.7lbs!
She explained:
โMy first baby went until 41 weeks and 3 days โ lucky I didnโt go that far he would have been 6kg plus.โ

Despite knowing what was ahead, Nikki still opted to have a natural, vaginal birth. She was successful in getting through the two-and-a-half-hour labor without turning to pain medicine.
Parker weighed 5.755kg (over 12lbs), which has left a lot of us feeling numb just thinking about it.
While giving birth to a baby that size without an epidural seems like an accomplishment worth cheering for, Nikki played it down more, saying:
โIโm sure all births hurt, whether itโs 1.7kg of 5.7kg โ they all hurt.โ

After Parkerโs giant entrance into the world on Nov. 1, 2018, the Blacktown Midwifery Group posted photos on Facebook along with a congratulatory message to the family.
It read:
โThis gorgeous chunky boy was born on Thursday to one of our MGP Mums, Nikki. He weighed in at a record breaking 5.755kg (12lb 6oz for the old school) and was a natural birth with no complications. We are happy to report the not so little Parker and Mum Nikki are doing well. Welcome to the world Parker, youโll be the talk of Blacktown Maternity for a long time to come! Also a big congratulations to Nikki, Michael and big sister Maddison.โ

Parker was one lucky baby going home with his mom, dad, and 20-month-old sibling, Maddison. As for his future, his parents have some ideas that could work well for his larger size.
Nikki told The Daily Telegraph:
โHopefully he will be a bit of a football player, maybe a front rower, thatโll keep his dad happy.โ

Thousands of comments came flooding in on social media in regards to Parkerโs size and Nikkiโs natural birth. Some people even shared stories comparing their own experiences.
One person wrote:
โOh my god I just gave birth to a 5 pound 8 ounce baby with a failed epidural and I. Could. Not. Imagine. No. I would be holding that thing in until they could sedate me lol.โ
Another commenter said:
โWhat a cute lill pork chop. My brother was born 14 lbs natural birth. Mum said he was so heavy he just fell out lol.โ
