What do you think? Smart or crazy?

Ever felt uneasy walking the streets at night? Guys feel a bit of that, but women have to live that. While we’re afraid of being mugged or robbed, women have much more reason to be wary of being alone at night.

Sexual assault, stalking, and harassment happen way more often to women than mugging or robbing happens to men. That’s no secret, and it’s a discussion that a woman on TikTok wants to have again.

This woman wanted to prove a point.

Tia zakher dressed up like a man for her Uber Eats job so she could work at night without the fear of assault or harassment.

Seeing what she normally looks like, I’d say Zakher’s disguise is pretty good. You can’t see her long, flowing hair or her distinct eyebrows. Put her on a motorbike, and bystanders would be none the wiser.

Most people are more keen to order food at night, and Zakher knows this and depends on it to make money.

With a mask and helmet covering her face and some baggy clothes, she looks the part of a man and could easily pass for one from a distance.

There’s something to be said about how much preparation she needs to do just to comfortably work her job at night. “Not all men”, sure, but enough men have been a problem that it’s gotten us to this.

It can give you quite the reality check when you learn that most women live like this.

“POV, You are scared to deliver orders at night alone but you make more money at night so dress up as a man.” she wrote in the overlay caption

Women all across the world, and commonly in the U.S., are all too familiar with Zakher’s plight and shared their own experiences in the comments.

One woman said she’d consider doing this same thing to get groceries at night.

Another wrote “It’s so sad we have to go through this as women.”

The numbers aren’t particularly reassuring though.

About 1 in 4 women have experienced partial or complete sexual assault.

1 in 4 is a scarily large likelihood. So don’t be surprised that some women like Tia Zakher are going to lengths like this.

Age is a big factor too. Younger women are are the ones targeted most often. Many women experience sexual assault before the age of 25.

How many times have you heard women say they prefer to walk in a group at night, or adopt a large dog for their safety?

Or carry pepper spray with them just in case?

It’s pretty telling, the number of precautions so many women have to take just to go outside. When was the last time you had to tell your son to carry pepper spray or an emergency whistle?

Zakher’s TikTok post shows us that his problem hasn’t gone away, and it won’t go away anytime soon unless we start raising our boys better.
