She made her dreams come true.

In the 1940s, a woman named Georgie would go to fashion school and produce some high-quality designs that would never leave her sketchbook.

She produced some fantastic fashion designs on paper, but never saw them realized in her day.

She’d later go on to start a family.

That family would then lead to the birth of her granddaughter, who’s now bringing those designs to life.

27-year-old Julia from Chicago is using her sewing skills to bring her grandma’s fashion designs to life.

Julia is self-taught with the sewing machine.

She learned to sew when she was in 6th grade, which proved incredibly useful when she learned of her grandmother’s history.

And that history is equal parts cool and a bit tragic.

During her studies in fashion school, her grandma, Georgie had been doing well and could have graduated.

But women in her day couldn’t have a career and family at the same time.

Georgie had to choose family at the expense of her career.

She didn’t have much of a choice.

Her gorgeous fashion designs seemed doomed to remain as sketches and nothing more – or so she thought.

Several decades later, her granddaughter is helping keep her dreams alive.

Now, Georgie gets to see what her designs would look like as actual pieces.

But Georgie never planned this.

In fact, her original plan was to have them sent out to magazines when she passed away or displayed at her funeral.

A bit sad, no doubt.

Julia found that plan just as sad as you and I.

She thought “Why would I wait for that?”

After all, she did know how to sew.

Who better than your granddaughter to make your design dreams come true before it’s too late?

And besides, most of the time, it’s never too late.

Julia did such a great job that it’d be a shame if they were the only two people to see it.

So she began posting showcases of the designs to TikTok where people are loving it.

“I think she loves getting to connect with me and have something to do because she’s at a stage in life where many people her age don’t have many things to do. “

Of course, her grandma is incredibly happy.

“And I thank you because that’s just lovely and it feels so nice to see something that I drew so many, many years ago.” said Georgie

These dresses are not easy to make, but that’s what makes them fun.

Julia spent around 2 months making one of them. Materials and costs are a factor too and Julia tries to avoid spending more than $300 per dress.

One of the best-looking ones she’s made from her grandma’s designs is this ballgown dress that Julia also turned into a cocktail dress.

Julia’s videos have inspired a ton of people to spend more time with their grandparents. That’s always a good thing!

Now the important question is: will these designs ever make it to stores?

Only time will tell.
