Meeting a future significant other, or perhaps just a fling, online is extremely common these days. With sites like Match.com or OKCupid, people are meeting each on the internet more often than they are meeting in person.
But would you ever think of Twitter as the website that could bring two people together? Most people wouldn’t think so but for one woman — Twitter helped her snag the man of her dreams. She had no idea what was coming.
A woman named Llia Apostolou in London turned to Twitter back in 2014 to look for a date for her sister’s wedding. Never in a million years did she expect what would happen next.
Lila’s Twitter post ended up circulating hundreds and hundreds of times.
Although the post was catching the attention of many men in the Twittersphere, there was one man in particular that caught Llia’s eye. He responded to Llia’s tweet with an adorable and enthusiastic tweet.
His eagerness to be her date is completely adorable. What happens afterward is truly a modern love story that makes the internet green with envy.
A complete stranger named Phil Gibson ended up volunteering his company to Llia.
It wasn’t long before the adorable flirtatious tweets ensued.
Llia admits today that she actually never ended up taking anyone to the wedding. Although, she was certainly a bit smitten with Phil. They continued talking despite his absence at the wedding.
They later met up in person and the instant connection they felt online was just as strong in person. They hit it off immediately.
Three years later — they took their flirty tweets much further. They got hitched! She had secretly hoped for this when they first met.
The internet is completely obsessed with their love story straight out of a rom-com! It’s pretty ridiculous how cute it is though, right?
Congrats Llia and Phil, it was love at first tweet! Have you ever met anyone in a strange or unexpected way?
